On May 29th, the International Judo Federation (IJF) announced the latest rankings for athletes worldwide vying for a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to the rankings, Vietnamese athlete Hoang Thi Tinh accumulated 213 points, ranking 9th in Asia. This position is sufficient for the 29-year-old athlete to secure a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the women's 48kg weight category.

The IJF's scoring system for qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics is complex and will be finalized on June 23rd. However, with her current points total, Hoang Thi Tinh is almost certain to secure a spot at the Games, as her lead over the runners-up is relatively safe.
Before the IJF finalizes the Olympic Paris qualifying spots, Hoang Thi Tinh will participate in two more tournaments in Tahiti and Peru to accumulate more points, so only a major surprise would cause her to miss out on a spot in Paris this summer.

Before Hoang Thi Tinh's Olympic qualification for Paris was officially confirmed, Vietnamese sports had already secured 10 spots in France this year, including: Nguyen Thuy Linh, Le Duc Phat (Badminton); Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (Shooting); Nguyen Huy Hoang (Swimming); Nguyen Thi That (Cycling); Trinh Van Vinh (Weightlifting); Vo Thi Kim Anh (Boxing); Nguyen Thi Huong (Canoeing) and Pham Thi Hue (Rowing).
