In the last days of the year, a series of iconic buildings of Ho Chi Minh City such as Thu Ngu Flagpole, Mong Bridge, Ho Chi Minh City Children's House, Ben Thanh Market, Ho Chi Minh City Museum and Ton Duc Thang Museum were all covered with colorful shimmering lights. The artistic lighting system inaugurated on the evening of November 28 not only lit up familiar buildings but also opened up a new viewing space for residents and tourists in the city center.

Started on June 12, the architectural lighting project implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board aims to enhance the landscape, increase the attraction of night tourism and serve the cultural and educational needs of the people. The project has a total investment of nearly 50 billion VND from the city budget. In this lighting project, Mong Bridge has become one of the highlights, attracting the attention of both people and tourists.

As one of the oldest bridges in Ho Chi Minh City, Mong Bridge was built from 1893-1894 by the Messageries Maritimes Company (France). The distinctive steel arch structure makes the bridge an important historical landmark and was recognized as an architectural and artistic monument in 2014.

Having lived in Vietnam for 3 years, Valerie Darling (a student from Russia, residing in Khanh Hoi ward) crosses Mong bridge almost every day. For Valerie, this bridge is already very beautiful, but when the lighting system is turned on, its beauty is multiplied many times. From this position, she can fully admire the city's iconic structures sparkling at night.

Born and raised in Phu My ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Le Trinh has passed Mong bridge hundreds of times but never thought of stopping to take photos. Only when the familiar bridge was covered in shimmering lights at night did she invite her friends to "check-in" the over 100-year-old structure. She believes that the light makes the bridge stand out and the landscape of the city center becomes more vibrant when night falls.

Architectural lighting is considered a solution that combines technology and art: light emphasizes the characteristic details, creates light-dark contrast and helps the shape of the building stand out at night. The lighting system in each building is set up to change the lighting scenario, meeting the needs of serving major holidays of the year or important events, suitable for the space and landscape of the area.

Located on a nearly 2-hectare plot of land in the center, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum building (Saigon Ward) was built from 1885-1890 according to the design of architect Alfred Foulhoux. The new lighting system emphasizes the tiled roof and columns, combined with external column lights to create depth, helping the building appear majestic but still soft at night. The museum is installed with a total of 346 sets of LED art lights, 10 m of LED string lights and 9 decorative lamp posts around.

After repainting the facade and renovating the area in front of the main gate in April 2023, Ben Thanh Market (Saigon Ward) continues to take on a different look with a newly installed artistic lighting system. The lights highlight the soft curves of the dome, evoke the antiquity of the four-faced clock tower, and highlight each relief depicting the goods - details that have created a distinctive mark of the more than 100-year-old market.

The Ho Chi Minh City Children's House (Xuan Hoa Ward) and the statue of Uncle Ho with children are illuminated by 550 LED lights, along with a LED string system and 64 decorative lamp posts. The focal point of this project is the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers' Traditional House, where the light highlights the image of Uncle Ho and children.

Ton Duc Thang Museum (Sai Gon Ward) is also on the list of illuminated items this time. Previously, at the end of 2024, the artistic lighting system was completed at Ba Son Bridge, with lights spread along the cables and towers, highlighting the characteristic structure of the iconic bridge.
