At the end of the trading session, the price of Robusta coffee on the London floor on October 18, 2024 at 4:30 a.m. was 4,404 - 4,685 tons. Specifically, the delivery period for November 2024 was 4,685 USD/ton, down 174 USD/ton; the delivery period for January 2025 was 4,598 USD/ton, down 154 USD/ton; the delivery period for March 2025 was 4,492 USD/ton, down 136 USD/ton and the delivery period for May 2025 was 4,404 USD/ton, down 116 USD/ton.

Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor on the morning of October 18, 2024, were dominated by red, at 2.55 - 2.85 cents/lb. Specifically, the December 2024 delivery period was 255.15 cents/lb, down 1.10%; the March 2025 delivery period was 253.85 cents/lb, down 1.09%); the May 2025 delivery period was 252.00 cents/lb (down 1.06%) and the July 2025 delivery period was 248.90, down 1.01%.

The price of Brazilian Arabica coffee on the morning of October 18, 2024 recorded mixed increases and decreases. Specifically, the delivery period for December 2024 was 304.60 USD/ton, down 0.02%; the delivery period for March 2025 was 305.50 USD/ton (up 0.02%); the delivery period for May 2025 was 309.20 USD/ton, down 1.14% and the delivery period for July 2025 was 304.95 USD/ton, down 1.09%.

Robusta coffee traded on the ICE Futures Europe (London exchange) opens at 16:00 and closes at 00:30 (next day), Vietnam time.

Arabica coffee on the ICE Futures US (New York floor) opens at 16:15 and closes at 01:30 (next day), Vietnam time.

For Arabica coffee traded on the B3 Brazil exchange, it will be open from 19:00 – 02:35 (next day), Vietnam time.

Coffee price today October 18, 2024: Market continues to decline sharply

Domestic coffee prices were updated at 4:30 a.m. on October 18, 2024 as follows: The domestic coffee market today decreased sharply in key localities, with an average decrease of 500 VND/kg, ranging from 112,800 - 113,400. Currently, the average purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces is 113,300 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Nong province is 113,400 VND/kg.

Specifically, the coffee purchase price in Gia Lai province (Chu Prong) is 113,300 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg; in Pleiku and La Grai it is 113,200 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg. In Kon Tum province, the price is 113,300 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday; In Dak Nong province, coffee is purchased at 113,400 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg.

The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 112,800 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg.

Coffee prices today (October 18) in Dak Lak province; in Cu M'gar district, coffee is purchased at about 113,200 VND/kg, and in Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, it is purchased at 113,100 VND/kg.

The price of green coffee beans in Dak Nong is currently high, ranging from 110,000 to 115,000 VND/kg, motivating people to invest and improve product quality. Farmers in coffee growing areas are actively taking care of their plants and adding nutrients to aim for a bumper harvest.

At the end of the 2023-2024 coffee crop year (from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024), Vietnam exported 1.46 million tons of coffee, down 12.1% compared to the previous crop year. However, the export value reached 5.43 billion USD, up 33.1%, marking the highest level in the history of Vietnam's coffee exports.

Despite the current high coffee prices, the Vietnamese coffee industry still faces many challenges such as climate change and competition from other crops. The EU’s new anti-deforestation regulations will also affect the coffee industry. VICOFA will soon organize a review event to assess the coffee production and trading situation, as well as forecast market trends for the next crop year.

One piece of information that had a negative impact on the coffee market was a report from the International Coffee Organization (ICO) showing that global coffee exports in August increased by +6.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching 10.92 million bags. From October last year to August this year, global exports increased by +9.9%, reaching 125.67 million bags.
