Thieu Hoa spreads emulation movements and new rural construction models

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - In order to effectively implement the National Target Program on New Rural Development, Thieu Hoa district has launched emulation movements and practical models with many diverse topics and forms, close to the reality in the localities. Thereby, it has contributed to the socio-economic development in rural areas, and the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved.

The movement "People participate in contributing to upgrading and expanding rural roads in a modern and civilized direction" has been deployed in most communes of Thieu Phuc, Thieu Giang, Thieu Nguyen, Thieu Giao... Up to now, about 3,900 households have participated in donating more than 66,000m2 of land. Along with that, people also contributed money, working days, participated in decorating model fences, planting trees... From here, many small and narrow roads have been expanded, built into model roads, with signs, speed bumps, lighting, covered drainage ditches, fundamentally changing the structure of rural and urban traffic infrastructure in a civilized and modern direction.

In Thieu Duy commune, to encourage people to enthusiastically participate in the land donation movement, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations from the commune to the villages have promoted propaganda and mobilization in many forms according to the motto "Party members go first, the country follows", combined with skillful mass mobilization work "going to every alley, to every house, mobilizing every person". At the same time, well implementing the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people enjoy", contributing to raising awareness for cadres, party members, union members, association members and people of all walks of life to voluntarily participate in donating land and dismantling works to expand roads in the village. Thanks to the cooperation of the people, up to now, Thieu Duy commune has had 148 households agreeing to donate 4,291m2 of land; mobilizing people in the villages to plant pearl trees, Bauhinia flowers, Lagerstroemia trees... on the roads, creating a green landscape environment. By 2025, the entire district will strive to mobilize at least 1,600 households to donate land with an area of ​​25,000m2 or more; upgrade and renovate traffic routes in a synchronous, modern and civilized direction.

Since 2022, the Women's Union of Thieu Hoa district has begun implementing a model of women participating in waste classification at households in advanced NTM communes. To help households implement and spread the meaning of the model, the Women's Union of the district has directed the Women's Unions of communes and towns to actively promote the meaning of waste classification. In addition, households have participated in training courses, technical instructions on using probiotics, support for garbage treatment pit covers, containers, waste classification and treatment methods... and closely follow the grassroots to "hand-hold and guide" people. Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, a resident of Thieu Phuc commune, said: “After being trained in waste classification and organic waste treatment as fertilizer, my family has sorted leaves, fruits, spoiled vegetables... separately and composted them with microorganisms to have fertilizer for plants. For hard-to-decompose waste such as plastic bottles, beer cans, soft drink cans..., we collect them to implement the model of "Turning waste into money". From the pilot models, up to now, most communes and towns in the district have classified waste with nearly 27,000 containers and about 5,222 households have built covered garbage pits."

Ms. Ta Thi Thuy, President of the Women's Union of Thieu Hoa district, said: "With a simple but effective and practical approach, the model of classifying and treating waste at the source has received the consensus and support of the people, thereby not only raising people's sense of responsibility for environmental protection but also contributing to solving the problem of littering in the wrong places, ensuring the preservation of environmental hygiene and landscape".

Through emulation movements, the model has contributed significantly to the results of mobilizing resources among the people to build new rural areas in Thieu Hoa over the past years. Typical movements include: Donating land to open roads; clean houses, beautiful gardens; sorting waste at households; green Sunday; youth flower roads, bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe residential areas, farmer tree rows... Through emulation movements, the model of building new rural areas, the landscape and environment, the appearance of the countryside have changed a lot; many cultural beauties have been promoted; the village spirit has been nurtured, the people are more united and united; political security, social order and safety have been maintained, contributing to the good implementation of socio-economic development targets, improving the spiritual and material life of the people.
