At the meeting, both sides expressed their delight at the positive results of exchanges between Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities with Chongqing city. Both sides agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, further strengthen substantive cooperation in the fields of economics , trade, investment, infrastructure development, logistics, education, tourism, and further promote people-to-people exchanges.
In the first eight months of 2025 alone, bilateral trade reached US$4.27 billion, up 26.5% over the same period last year. Vietnam became the largest trading partner, accounting for over one-third of Chongqing's total trade turnover with ASEAN countries.
Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu suggested that Chongqing consider participating in the Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Economic Corridor; expand the import of high-quality agricultural and aquatic products from Vietnam; create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to effectively exploit the international railway route from Chongqing to European countries; encourage Chongqing enterprises to invest in Vietnam in areas of strength such as electronics, manufacturing industry, urban management, green transformation, etc. The Deputy Minister also hoped that Chongqing would grant more scholarships for Vietnamese students to study at key universities; and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese airlines regarding take-off and landing times.

Introducing the potentials and strengths of Chongqing as the only centrally-governed city in the Southwest region of China, Vice Mayor Tu Kien affirmed that Chongqing always attaches importance to promoting mutually beneficial exchanges and cooperation with Vietnamese localities; is ready to strengthen practical cooperation in the fields of transportation, trade, investment, education and training and people-to-people exchange, effectively exploiting "red addresses", inheriting and promoting the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China.
Vice Mayor Tu Kien affirmed that he will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese Consulate General in Chongqing to operate effectively and promote its role as a bridge to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
