Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1333/QD-TTg dated November 5, 2024 appointing the Chairman and Vice Chairmen of the National Medical Council.
According to the above Decision, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, concurrently holds the position of Chairman of the National Medical Council.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien, Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Association, former Deputy Minister of Health, holds the position of Permanent Vice President of the Council, working full-time.
Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health, concurrently holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Council.
Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, concurrently holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Council.
The Decision takes effect from November 5, 2024.
The National Medical Council is an organization with the function of independently assessing the capacity to practice medical examination and treatment. The National Medical Council has its own seal, account and headquarters located in Hanoi City.
The National Medical Council performs the tasks prescribed in Clause 3, Article 24; Clause 2, Article 25; Clause 3, Article 120 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment and Clauses 2, 3, and 4, Article 9 of Decree No. 96/2023/ND-CP dated December 30, 2023 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment; other tasks assigned by the Prime Minister.
The National Medical Council consists of a Chairman, no more than 03 Vice Chairmen and Council Members.
The National Medical Council has specialized committees to carry out the Council's tasks. Members of the specialized committees include a number of Council members and experts from hospitals, health-care higher education institutions and professional associations in the health sector.
The National Medical Council has a supporting agency, the National Medical Council Office. The National Medical Council Office is a public service unit under the Ministry of Health established by the Minister of Health in accordance with the provisions of law.
