Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presents the appointment decision for the Director General of Vietnam Television to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam.

Previously, on November 1st, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1311/QD-TTg transferring and appointing Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam to the position of General Director of VTV, replacing Mr. Le Ngoc Quang, who was transferred by the Politburo to the position of Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee on October 31st.

The new General Director of VTV, Nguyen Thanh Lam, was born in 1972 and graduated from the French Department of the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. He began his career at VTV in 1993, previously leading the VTV News Department, then transferring to become Deputy General Director of An Vien Television, and General Director of VTC Digital Television. After that, he held the positions of Deputy Director of the Press Department, Director of the Broadcasting and Electronic Information Department, Ministry of Information and Communications , Director of the Press Department, and Deputy Minister of Information and Communications in September 2022.

Presenting the decision to transfer and appoint Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam to the position of General Director of VTV, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam rose through the ranks of VTV, having held many positions and roles all related to information and communication work.

Affirming that Comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam's transfer and appointment received high consensus from the Central Party Secretariat, within VTV, and is appropriate to the current context, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated VTV's role in training and developing cadres; as a source of cadres for ministries, sectors, and localities, with good moral and political qualities, high expertise, vision, innovation, and a desire to excel.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh delivered a speech assigning tasks to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Director General of Vietnam Television.

Highly appreciating the growth and maturity of VTV in the context of increasingly fierce competition in information and communication today, and the contributions of generations of leaders, officials, staff, and workers of VTV throughout the years, including VTV General Director Le Ngoc Quang, who has just been transferred and appointed as Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee, the Prime Minister stated that the country is entering a new era - an era of national progress, requiring every official, reporter, editor, technician, and worker of VTV to strive even harder to meet the demands of the new era.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that VTV General Director Nguyen Thanh Lam, along with the Party Committee, key leaders, and all staff, reporters, editors, technicians, and workers at VTV, unite, leverage the collective strength and the individual strengths of each unit and each person, demonstrate passion for their profession, and overcome personal limitations; closely coordinate between units within the agency and between relevant ministries, sectors, and agencies to achieve new accomplishments.

"People are the center, the driving force, the goal, and the impetus of development. Therefore, we must build a team of passionate officials who are willing to make sacrifices for their profession and are innovative," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister requested that VTV's infrastructure and technology, especially digital transformation, be developed to keep pace with the times and serve the nation's development. This includes researching and constructing a television tower befitting the nation's glorious historical traditions, the country's role and position, and the intellect of Vietnamese television professionals; serving as both a national symbol and a source of pride for VTV.

Furthermore, VTV must closely follow the Party's directives, innovate, and improve the quality of television program content to meet the demands of development, truly engaging with life, and satisfying the public's needs for current affairs, specialized topics, and cultural enjoyment; contributing to motivating and inspiring people to follow the Party and abide by the law; combining national and contemporary strength, internal and external forces, to combat and refute harmful and toxic information so that the entire nation can confidently, self-reliantly, and strongly move forward.
