Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam's term of appointment is 5 years.
Mr. Lam took over the job at Vietnam Television (VTV), replacing Mr. Le Ngoc Quang, who was transferred by the Politburo to the position of Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee on October 31st.
Prior to becoming Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam worked for many years at VTV, having previously held positions such as General Director of VTC Digital Television, Director of the Broadcasting and Television Department, and Director of the Press Department.
VTV is a government agency, the national television station, a leading multi-media communication agency, performing the function of informing and disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations.
The Director General of VTV is accountable to the Government, the Prime Minister , and the law for all of the station's operations. The Deputy Directors General assist the Director General and are accountable to the Director General and the law for their assigned areas of responsibility.
The General Director appoints, dismisses, and removes from office the heads and deputy heads of subordinate units, and defines the functions, duties, powers, organizational structure, and working relationships of these units.
