Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam becomes VTV General Director

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam's term of appointment is 5 years.

Mr. Lam took over the job at Vietnam Television (VTV), replacing Mr. Le Ngoc Quang, who was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee on October 31.

Before holding the position of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam worked for many years at VTV, holding the positions of General Director of VTC Digital Television Station, Director of Radio and Television Department, and Director of Press Department.

VTV is a government agency, a national television station, a key multimedia media agency, performing the function of informing and propagating the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws.

The VTV General Director is responsible to the Government, the Prime Minister and before the law for all activities of the station. The Deputy General Directors assist the General Director and are responsible to the General Director and before the law for the assigned areas.

The General Director appoints, dismisses, and removes the head and deputy head and regulates the functions, duties, powers, organizational structure, and working relationships of affiliated units.
