Promoting cooperation between Kagawa province (Japan) and Hai Phong city

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of May 13, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received a delegation from Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, led by Mr. Ujike Takashi, Vice Chairman of the Kagawa Prefecture Council, Japan, to attend the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day and the Opening Ceremony of the Red Flamboyant Festival in 2025. Also attending the reception were representatives of relevant departments and branches.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong informed the delegation of some outstanding results in the city's socio-economic development in recent times, and also stated that Japan is currently one of the important investment partners of Hai Phong city, ranking fourth in the number of projects and second in total investment capital, with 146 projects and a total registered capital of 4.5 billion USD. Investment projects from Japan not only contribute to improving the technology content and application of science in production, but also play an active role in promoting exports, creating jobs and increasing local budget revenue.

In particular, on August 29, 2024, Hai Phong City and Kagawa Prefecture signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a cooperative relationship, opening up many opportunities for exchanges and implementing practical cooperation projects in the coming time. Currently, the two sides are coordinating to implement the Project "Reducing marine waste through the participation of people on Cat Ba Island", funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). At the same time, Hai Phong is also preparing to send a delegation of students to attend the National High School Cultural Festival in Kagawa Prefecture, scheduled to take place in July 2025.

The Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee expressed his hope that in the coming time, the functional agencies of the two localities will continue to closely coordinate to maintain the exchange of delegations at the government level; strengthen connections and support businesses; and at the same time promote cooperation in the fields of tourism, culture,education and training.

Mr. Ujike Takashi, Vice Chairman of the Kagawa Prefectural Council (Japan), expressed his sincere thanks for the warm and respectful welcome from the leaders of Hai Phong city. He highly appreciated the city's socio-economic development orientations, and was deeply impressed by the strategic vision and outstanding achievements that Hai Phong has achieved in recent times. The Vice Chairman of the Kagawa Prefectural Council also affirmed his desire to further promote the cooperative relationship between Kagawa province and Hai Phong city, towards practical, effective and sustainable cooperation programs, bringing long-term benefits to both localities.
