The National Assembly Standing Committee agreed to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Duong Van Thai.

According to Press Release No. 3551/TTKQH-TT of the Secretary General of the National Assembly: On April 26, 2024, based on the provisions of law, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 1046/NQ-UBTVQH15 agreeing to the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy to prosecute, temporarily detain, and search the residence and workplace of Mr. Duong Van Thai, a deputy of the 15th National Assembly, in accordance with the provisions of law.

At the same time, temporarily suspend the performance of duties and powers of a National Assembly deputy for Mr. Duong Van Thai, a National Assembly deputy of the 15th term, from the date of the decision to prosecute the accused.

Mr. Duong Van Thai was born in 1970, from Bac Giang . In October 2020, at the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee, term XIX, Mr. Duong Van Thai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, term XVIII, Chairman of the Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee, term XIX.

At the 13th National Party Congress, he was elected to the 13th Party Central Committee; holding the position of Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Giang province for the 2021-2026 term.

From July 2021, he was elected as a delegate of the 15th National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Bac Giang province.
