At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed Mr. Chang Ho-jin's visit and work in Vietnam, highly appreciating the significance of the visit. The General Secretary and President also congratulated Mr. Chang Ho-jin on being appointed as the first special advisor on diplomacy and security to the President of the Republic of Korea. General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully thanked President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea for his early condolences and the Government of the Republic of Korea for promptly sharing and supporting Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of the recent typhoon Yagi.
Regarding the direction of promoting bilateral relations in the coming time, Mr. Chang Ho-jin emphasized the message of the President of the Republic of Korea about the desire to become a reliable and important partner of Vietnam in the process of realizing the goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045. Besides cooperation in the political and diplomatic fields, the Republic of Korea attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen and expand cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, including high technology, innovation, transport infrastructure, energy; promote cooperation in the field of defense - security and coordinate on international issues of mutual interest.

General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed the important message from President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea and the opinions of Advisor Chang Ho-jin on expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields. The General Secretary and President also expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the invitation to visit Korea from President Yoon Suk Yeol; and requested relevant agencies of the two countries to coordinate and arrange the visit at a time suitable for both sides.
The General Secretary and President affirmed that Vietnam considers the Republic of Korea one of the top important partners, a priority in its foreign policy, and emphasized a number of major directions to promote bilateral relations in the coming time in line with the framework of the Vietnam-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Emphasizing Vietnam's consistent policy on major and important issues, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam is always interested in and ready to actively contribute to maintaining peace and stability on the Korean peninsula. Mr. Chang Ho-jin presented the views and stance of the Korean Government, emphasizing the desire to promote lasting peace on the Korean peninsula.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides agreed on the necessity of maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the East Sea, and respecting international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
