Construction Newspaper reported: "VinFast electric motorbikes account for nearly 3% market share in Vietnam"
VinFast sold more than 70,000 electric motorbikes, accounting for only about 2.78% of the total motorbike consumption capacity of 2.545 million motorbikes consumed by Vietnamese people each year.
According to the 2024 Annual Report announced by Vingroup on April 19, VinFast sold 70,977 electric motorbikes, reaching 71% of the set target (100,000 electric motorbikes).
In 2023 and 2022, the number of electric motorbikes sold will be 70,266 and 60,264 units respectively. The growth rate of VinFast electric motorbikes in 2024 compared to 2023 is 1%.
Thus, VinFast electric motorbikes only accounted for 2.78% of the total motorbike consumption in Vietnam in the same year, which was 2.545 million units. Currently, the structure of Vietnam's motorbike market share still belongs to the Honda brand with 2.1 million motorbikes sold domestically, accounting for 82.5% of the market share, according to data shared by VAMM and Honda. Accordingly, VinFast's electric motorbike market share is only slightly higher than the odd number of Honda's market share in Vietnam (2.78% compared to 82.5%).
The remaining 10 brands (including 4 VAMM members: Yamaha, Piaggio, Suzuki, SYM) and 6 brands outside VAMM (VinFast, Pega, Yadea, Detech, DatBike, Kymco) share the remaining 17.5% market share. In terms of total industry output, each day, car manufacturers in Vietnam produce about 8,000 motorbikes, including VinFast electric motorbikes, an average of 200 motorbikes/day. Despite great efforts, VinFast's electric motorbike market share growth is slower than that of their electric cars.
Vneconomy newspaper posted: " Shopee 'out of breath', TikTok Shop encroaches on market share"
TikTok Shop's sales grew 113.8% in Q1/2025, increasing its market share from 23% to 35%, while Shopee's market share decreased from 68% to 62%...
According to the report "Online retail market in the first quarter of 2025 and forecast for the second quarter of 2025" by the Metric.vn data analysis platform, the total revenue in the first quarter of 2025 of the top 4 e-commerce platforms (Shopee, TikTok, Lazada, Tiki) increased by 42.29% over the same period last year, reaching 101.4 billion VND with 950.7 million products sold.
Notably, the revenue results have caused the market share of the platforms to change. Accordingly, TikTok Shop's sales increased by 113.8% in the first quarter of 2025, increasing its market share from 23% to 35%. This shows that consumers increasingly prefer shopping and entertainment through short videos.
In contrast, despite still growing 29.3%, Shopee’s market share fell from 68% to 62%, reflecting increasing competitive pressure. In addition, Lazada and Tiki also lost 43.5% and 66.6% of sales, respectively.
Metric.vn assesses that the rapid shift of consumers to content platforms like TikTok Shop is an important signal for platforms in orienting their upcoming development.
