Tinh Bien develops from border trade economy

According to Vice Chairman of Tinh Bien Ward People's Committee Tran Minh Hoa, Tinh Bien International Border Gate is one of 11 border gates of Vietnam bordering the Kingdom of Cambodia, with bustling trade activities. Every year, the import and export turnover through the border gate reaches about 600 million USD. This is not only a place for trade but also an ideal stopover, with outstanding economic development potential, contributing to improving people's lives.

“As a key area in the economic development orientation of localities in Tinh Bien town in the past, Tinh Bien ward now possesses many unique development potentials. We determined that it is necessary to create close links between localities in the region to promote industry, services, logistics and trade, focusing on exploiting the potential of border trade economy; building resort tourism and eco-tourism products to create a difference compared to other localities”, said Mr. Tran Minh Hoa.

In addition to Tinh Bien International Border Gate, Tinh Bien Ward also has key markets specializing in trading high-quality imported goods, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and shop. The number of visitors to Tinh Bien border market reaches nearly 300,000/year, with an average spending of more than 930,000 VND/visitor. Thanks to increasingly synchronous investment in traffic infrastructure, the number of tourists flocking to the border area is increasing, contributing to improving the lives of local people.

Based on clearly identifying the local potential, the Party Executive Committee of Tinh Bien Ward for the 2025 - 2030 term sets out the orientation for developing a dynamic and effective economy with a reasonable economic structure; taking the development of trade, services, tourism and border trade as the driving force for growth. At the same time, accelerate the development of industry and handicrafts, improve the efficiency of agricultural economy based on the application of science and technology; strengthen digital transformation, create more new driving forces and growth values.

According to Secretary of the Tinh Bien Ward Party Committee Nguyen Hong Duc, the general goal in the 2025 - 2030 term is to build Tinh Bien into a dynamic area, a trade hub in the border area, in which the Tinh Bien International Border Gate area will be a comprehensive, multi-sector, multi-sector economic zone, cooperating in investment and development with the Kingdom of Cambodia. Tinh Bien will strongly develop trade, services, border trade economy and tourism; striving to become a center of trade, services and tourism in the border area by 2030.

To successfully achieve the above goals, the Party Executive Committee of Tinh Bien Ward focuses on breakthroughs, especially mobilizing maximum resources from the Central, the province and socialization to invest in completing traffic infrastructure, urban infrastructure; attracting investment and maximizing strengths in trade, services, tourism, border trade, industry, logistics and improving the quality of human resources. "The ward will focus on effectively exploiting regional links, especially the growth axis Chau Doc - Tinh Bien - Ha Tien. At the same time, promoting the advantages of Tinh Bien International Border Gate, Tinh Bien market and entertainment activities, border trade fairs, associated with tourism development in the chain linking with prominent tourist destinations such as Sam Mountain, Cam Mountain, Tra Su Melaleuca Forest, Ha Tien Ward...", Mr. Nguyen Hong Duc shared.

In the coming time, Tinh Bien ward will focus on improving activities at the border market, continuing to attract tourists. The ward will create conditions for the development of eco-tourism models combined with the use of multi-purpose agricultural land to diversify products and increase the ability to retain tourists.

Speaking at the Party Congress of Tinh Bien Ward for the 2025 - 2030 term, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that in the coming time, Tinh Bien Ward needs to urgently coordinate with departments and branches to invest in infrastructure development; effectively implement the province's projects related to Tinh Bien, including the project to develop border gate economy so that Tinh Bien can be worthy of being a hub for border trade.
