Thanks to technological advances, the cost of many TVs has dropped significantly, making it possible to own a 65-inch 4K UHD TV for under 8 million VND. Some stores even offer 100-inch TVs at affordable prices.

But the question is: Do these cheap TVs last, especially when they are packed with features? While many other tech gadgets are regularly replaced, TVs have an average lifespan of 5 to 10 years.
However, many consumers still feel that modern TVs are not as durable as older models. For example, one user shared his experience owning a 27-inch Panasonic CRT TV from 2001, while two new 65-inch TCL TVs purchased in November 2023 broke after only a year of use.
The cheaper the TV, the faster it breaks.
According to experts, users can expect a TV to last around 45,000 hours. Higher-end models, like LG, can last up to 100,000 hours. However, cheap TVs often use lower-quality components, leading to higher failure rates, especially in the power supply and built-in software.

For a better viewing experience, users should consider choosing non-smart TV models, often called “hotel” TVs. These models allow users to easily add streaming devices to watch free apps and TV channels. While low-cost TVs from smaller brands may look appealing, users should invest more in a high-quality TV for the main living room, while choosing a cheap TV for other spaces such as the bedroom or garage.
The rise of low-cost TVs is turning the industry into a consumable one, encouraging users to upgrade every few years. This may bring higher profits for companies, but also poses a challenge for users to choose durable and reliable products.
