With a consistent viewpoint, our Party and State always affirm that culture in general, and ethnic minority culture in particular, is an important part and a driving force for development. Particularly in Binh Thuan province, the system of intangible cultural heritage of ethnic communities in the province is very rich and diverse, contributing important material and spiritual values, reflecting many areas of culture, customs, beliefs and arts related to economic and social life. In particular, costumes are a type of intangible cultural heritage that was born relatively early, bearing the unique characteristics of the nation and always accumulated and enriched according to the development process of history. Because it is a necessary need to effectively serve the needs of dressing and beautifying in the personal life and ethnic communities.
The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said: The discussion program is very necessary and urgent, helping the cultural sector and local authorities see the current status of traditional costumes and the current needs of the people, better understand the history and cultural values of traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in the province to have appropriate policies and strategies in managing, preserving and promoting cultural values to serve the people themselves and serve the development of culture and tourism in the locality.
At the seminar, delegates gave objective assessments of the current state of traditional costumes of the Cham, Raglai, Kho, Cho Ro ethnic groups and costumes of the Cham Royal Cultural Heritage Collection; compared the similarities and differences in the process of exchange of traditional costumes between ethnic groups in history and at present between neighboring provinces... From there, propaganda solutions were proposed to carry out the work of preserving, restoring, exploiting and promoting the cultural values of traditional costumes associated with tourism development.
Through the comments and discussions directly related to the topic of the discussion, Mr. Bui The Nhan said: With the development trend of the market economy mechanism and cultural exchange and acculturation taking place in many directions between regions as today, the traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in the province are facing the risk of fading away, changing and gradually losing the cultural values characterizing each ethnic community. Traditional costumes are not commonly used in daily life and activities, but are only used as ceremonial costumes on New Year's Day or annual festivals, religious ceremonies of the community. Therefore, the preservation and promotion of traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in the province as well as associated with tourism development activities in the current period is necessary, meeting the needs to preserve traditional costumes to exist sustainably over time and for tourists to experience and understand more about the value of costumes of ethnic minorities in the province.
