General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: Imprints in the hearts of the people

The General Secretary paid special attention to the instructions and suggestions to help localities develop sustainably and people live a prosperous and happy life during each visit to the grassroots.

During his lifetime, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always paid special attention to the grassroots with instructions and suggestions to help localities develop sustainably and people's lives be prosperous and happy.

Hai Phong's mission to the whole country

Hai Phong is one of the localities honored to have welcomed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to visit and work many times. Hai Phong people still remember the image of the General Secretary, a sharp, intelligent and far-sighted leader, who gave instructions and suggestions for the city to continue promoting the tradition of "loyalty and determination to win", and the aspiration to rise up and affirm the position and mission of the locality to the region and the whole country.

At the Politburo 's working session with the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee on summarizing 15 years of implementing Resolution No. 32-NQ/TW, dated August 5, 2003 of the 9th Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city in the period of national industrialization and modernization (December 2018), General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that Hai Phong is not only Hai Phong's, but also the whole region and the whole country.

Therefore, the responsibility of the Central Government is to support and strengthen Hai Phong, especially focusing on leadership, direction, promulgation of appropriate mechanisms and policies, and arousing the city's potential strengths, so that the locality can develop strongly and comprehensively in the coming years.

According to Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau, in recent times, the work of Party building, political system and people mobilization has continued to be innovated, achieving many important and comprehensive results.

Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung shared that the city determined that it is necessary to have strategic, long-term plans and focused investments.

First of all, Hai Phong focuses on promoting the existing internal strength of the city's industry, by researching the establishment of the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone; at the same time, continuing to develop the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone and attracting the construction of all planned industrial parks and clusters.

At the same time, the city will deepen development according to three strategic breakthroughs: Seaports and logistics services, digital transformation, and building the Cat Ba-Do Son marine tourism complex.

In the first half of 2024, Hai Phong maintained its 5th position in the country, 2nd in the Red River Delta and ranked first among centrally-run cities in economic growth.

Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 10.32% over the same period in 2023; cargo throughput through the port is estimated at 75.7 million tons (up 9.03% over the same period in 2023).

The number of tourists to the city reached over 4,270,000. Foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction in Hai Phong reached over 1,551 million USD, reaching 77.58% of the yearly plan.

Afforestation for economic development

Mr. Hoang Anh Tham, Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Cuong Commune, Tran Yen District, Yen Bai Province still clearly remembers that on the morning of February 10, 2019 (January 6, Ky Hoi Year), the General Secretary attended the national "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" with the people of Village 6, Viet Cuong Commune.

The General Secretary requested all levels, sectors, localities and people of all ethnic groups in the province to enthusiastically participate in tree planting and afforestation; at the same time, take effective measures to protect and prevent illegal logging, forest burning and exploitation, increase investment, apply science and technology, create support mechanisms, encourage sustainable forest economic development, contribute to increasing the economic value of forests, and promote the province's socio-economic development.

Mr. Hoang Anh Tham shared that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is always close, visiting, chatting and working with people to dig holes in the ground, plant trees to plant forests, and green bare hills...

Every local resident will always preserve, protect and remember the hill of trees that the General Secretary planted on Yen Bai land. That is the motivation for the Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in the province to continue promoting the development of the forest economy, improving people's lives, ensuring the ecological environment to build the province to develop in the direction of "green, harmonious, unique and happy", continuing the green springs with the country.

Up to now, the movement of planting trees, reforesting barren hills has always been actively responded to by the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai province with many specific and practical actions.

On average, each year, the whole province plants over 15,000 hectares of new forests of all kinds, the forested land area reaches nearly 470,000 hectares, the province's forest cover is stable at 63% (the province has the fourth highest forest cover in the country).

Encouraging people to build new countryside

Mr. Nguyen Cong Trieu (86 years old, 64 years of Party membership), a member of the Veterans Association and the Elderly Association of Thuy Van commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, recalled that on January 21, 2014, he and many cadres, party members and people in the commune were honored to meet and talk during the visit and work of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the locality.

Although the time we met and talked was not long, the deep impressions of a simple, close, and friendly leader are still deeply imprinted in his mind.

Mr. Dao Van Sy (84 years old, 57 years of Party membership), former Chairman of the Elderly Association of Thuy Van commune, was also honored to meet and speak at the working session with the General Secretary.

He still remembers, speaking to the people, the General Secretary highly appreciated the locality for promoting the tradition of the heroic revolutionary homeland, especially the spirit of self-reliance, promoting internal strength, proactively building new rural areas; and launching a widespread mass movement, mobilizing all classes of people to participate.

The General Secretary expressed his belief and hope that Thuy Van will develop and innovate more strongly...

Mr. Vu Huu Tiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuy Van commune, said that the General Secretary's recognition, encouragement and expectations have become the driving force urging cadres, party members and people here to strive to compete and achieve many victories in recent years.

The Party Committee and local people of Thuy Van commune are determined to strive to soon reach the advanced new rural destination and bring the average income per capita to 72 million VND/person/year by 2025 as set out by the Party Congress of the commune.

Firmly foster people's trust

The advice and encouragement of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong 10 years ago to the government and people of Vo Mieu commune still holds true and is a driving force for economic development, poverty reduction, and sustainable new rural construction.

Mr. Do Xuan Thuy, Secretary of the Ban 1 Party Cell, Vo Mieu Commune, Thanh Son District, Phu Tho Province, shared that in 2014, after the General Secretary visited, the Party and State invested in the road from Thuc Luyen Commune to the end of Vo Mieu Commune.

The day the road was completed and put into use was also a festival day for the villagers. Everyone was happy and excited and called this road "Uncle Trong's road."

Thanks to the road, it has created a strong change in people's lives not only in Thuc Luyen and Vo Mieu but also contributed to changing and creating a strong momentum for the lives and economies of people where the road passes through and the most remote communes of Thanh Son district such as: Kha Cuu, Dong Cuu, Thuong Cuu.

Vo Mieu today has changed dramatically, a new rhythm of life in the mountainous rural area has flourished thanks to the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong 10 years ago.

Vo Mieu has innovated in the thinking and working methods of the commune's leadership team and the timely response of the people to market demands, contributing to ensuring social security and maintaining security and order, creating a solid foundation for Vo Mieu to develop sustainably and soon complete the National Target Program on new rural construction on schedule./.
