In a press release issued tonight, the National Innovation Center - NIC ( Ministry of Finance ) said that today (August 12), in Seoul, South Korea, under the witness of General Secretary To Lam and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, NIC signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Nextrans Investment Fund and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) of South Korea.
The event marks an important step forward in expanding international cooperation, promoting innovation, startups and green transformation in Vietnam.
The cooperation agreements were signed within the framework of the Vietnam - Korea Economic Forum organized by the Ministry of Finance in coordination with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and relevant agencies during the visit of General Secretary To Lam to Korea.
Speaking at the forum, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the contribution of the Korean side in supporting the construction of the National Innovation Center. SK Group (Korea) has sponsored the construction and development of the innovation ecosystem at NIC facilities.
The General Secretary believes that the two countries will continue to join hands to support Vietnam in developing and creating a "Red River miracle" based on science, technology and innovation.
According to the representative of NIC, the cooperation between NIC and Nextrans Investment Fund aims at the following goals: Promoting a dynamic and comprehensive innovation ecosystem, facilitating access to venture capital and international capital for Vietnamese startups.
Coordinate the establishment of an Innovation Fund to finance and invest in high-potential early-stage startups in Vietnam.
Build the capacity of founders and ecosystem members through training, mentorship and international exposure opportunities.
The cooperation between NIC and GGGI aims to promote innovation and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Specific areas of cooperation include: Strengthening the innovation ecosystem associated with green growth, developing climate technology industries and green startups.
Support the climate tech startup ecosystem, including AI-powered startup acceleration, investment matching, and promoting public-private partnerships.
Developing a clean hydrogen investment ecosystem in Vietnam, from policy assessment, legal framework to building a national hydrogen technology innovation and demonstration center concept.
Establish digital partnerships, connect investors and global markets, including the ability to integrate GGGI's Green Transition Lab (GTL) platform into NIC's system.
Cooperation in other areas promotes green growth based on innovation and technology.
