Summary of the pilot program for teaching Korean in high schools.

(Dong Nai) - On the morning of July 8th, the Department of Education and Training, in coordination with the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association of Dong Nai province, Lac Hong University, and ViSang Vietnam Education Co., Ltd., held a closing ceremony for the pilot program of teaching Korean to high school students in Dong Nai province.

The pilot program for teaching Korean in high schools commenced on October 10, 2024, with approximately 300 students initially registering. However, due to scheduling conflicts, only over 100 students participated throughout the course. The three high schools with the highest number of participating students were: Dau Giay (54 students), Chu Van An (24 students), and Luong The Vinh Specialized High School (18 students).

The pilot Korean language teaching program was implemented in two formats: in-person and online via the Zoom platform. In addition to teaching, the program also organized activities to experience Korean culture. At the end of the course, 27 students were rated excellent, 53 students were rated good, and 25 students were rated fair.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association of the province, expressed his hope that, with this initial success, the program would be expanded to many high schools throughout the province. Mr. Binh also requested that all relevant parties frankly evaluate the pilot program, clearly stating any difficulties so that solutions can be found to overcome them in the next phase of implementation.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Do Dang Bao Linh, the pilot program has yielded positive results. However, due to the predominantly online teaching method, there are certain limitations. The Department of Education and Training will submit a report to the Provincial People's Committee summarizing the pilot program to support Korean language teaching in high schools throughout the province, and will also conduct an evaluation to develop a plan for the next phase.
