Ho Chi Minh City: Schools urgently deploy traffic safety solutions during rush hour

(NLDO)- Educational institutions review and evaluate the complex traffic safety situation during rush hour that poses a risk to the safety of students and teachers.

On October 29, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said it had directed educational institutions across the city to deploy solutions to overcome traffic congestion at school gates in Ho Chi Minh City.

Educational establishments must review and assess the complex traffic safety situation during rush hours that poses a risk to the safety of students, teachers and parents. Urgently report the actual situation so that the Department of Education and Training can coordinate with relevant departments and branches to take coordinated measures to overcome the situation.

In addition, it is recommended that school principals organize the implementation of the following specific contents: Focus on implementing well the solutions proposed according to the documents of the City People's Committee, Department of Construction, Department of Education and Training that have been deployed to ensure traffic safety at educational institutions in the city.

Propagating, mobilizing, disseminating and educating laws on traffic order and safety on roads, railways and inland waterways for officials, teachers, students and pupils; disseminating Directive No. 31/2023 of the Prime Minister on strengthening traffic order and safety for school-age children.

Coordinate with local forces to organize traffic flow at the school gate; open main and secondary school gates, create multiple entrances and exits for parents; arrange parking in the school yard if possible during rush hours.

Encourage parents and students to follow regulations such as non-stop pick-up and drop-off, parking on the street or sidewalk causing congestion in front of the school gate. Wear helmets when participating in traffic by motorbike, scooter, or electric bicycle.

Do not drive side by side, do not run red lights, do not drive when underage or without a driver's license, do not weave, do not participate in or support illegal racing. Build traffic culture such as obeying the law, having skills to handle situations, civilized behavior, and personal responsibility.
