Ho Chi Minh City: Fierce fire on telecommunication cables in District 1, dozens of people flee

On the afternoon of June 20, Ho Chi Minh City authorities promptly contained a telecommunications cable fire on Nguyen Cong Tru Street, District 1, causing dozens of people to flee in panic.

According to initial information, at around 12:30 p.m. the same day, people suddenly discovered smoke and fire breaking out from the telecommunication cable system on the electric pole in front of 74-76 Nguyen Cong Tru Street (District 1). A few minutes later, the fire broke out fiercely and spread to the door of the restaurant next door. Dozens of customers and employees in the restaurant shouted to each other to run out safely.

Some witnesses said that at first the fire was small, then it flared up fiercely. There were about 25 people in the restaurant at the time, fortunately no one was injured.

Upon receiving the news, Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention and Fighting Force and District 1 authorities quickly arrived and extinguished the fire.

A representative of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity said that the preliminary cause was determined to be a telecommunications cable problem at the electric pole. The fire did not cause damage to the power grid. Currently, the authorities are investigating and clarifying the cause of the incident.
