In his opening remarks, Mr. Tran Bao Lam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thu Dau Mot City, stated that since 2001, the Prime Minister has decided to designate June 28th as Vietnam Family Day. Over the years, the leaders of Thu Dau Mot City have shown great interest and implemented numerous programs and plans to preserve family values and create favorable conditions for all sectors, levels, individuals, and society as a whole to care for and build prosperous and happy families.
Vietnamese Family Day is an occasion to honor the traditional humanistic values of the family, allowing all family members to show more care for each other, share and cherish one another, and also a day for Vietnamese people to reflect on their roots, their loved ones, their loving home, nurturing beautiful feelings and noble cultural values of the nation.
According to Mr. Tran Bao Lam, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issues a plan for implementing family-related work every year; based on this plan, localities and units in the city have proactively developed plans to organize many practical activities associated with the movements "All people unite to build a cultured life"; "Building a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy and sustainable family"; "Exemplary grandparents, parents, and filial children"...
According to reports, the festival featured many vibrant cultural and artistic activities, honoring the cultural values of Vietnamese families. In particular, the cooking competition saw participation from families representing the wards, departments, and organizations of Thu Dau Mot City.
It is known that recently, Thu Dau Mot City has organized sustainable family club activities to help members exchange experiences in educating children, upholding the good traditional values of Vietnamese families; and promoting the role of families in preventing social evils and domestic violence.
To date, Thu Dau Mot City has 52,615 households recognized as "Culturally Exemplary Families," achieving a rate of 99.27%, and many exemplary individuals in building happy families. These are positive factors and driving forces promoting the increasingly sustainable socio -economic development of the city.
Through today's Family Day celebration, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thu Dau Mot City calls on every citizen to organize family gatherings and reunions to reminisce about family traditions and customs. This is more necessary and meaningful than ever, thereby strengthening family bonds and gradually integrating "Family Day" into daily life, making it a major celebration with profound humanistic significance, beautifully preserved in every Vietnamese family.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Thu Dau Mot City awarded commendations to outstanding individuals and households for their exemplary contributions to building cultured families in 2024, and also commended the teams participating in the competitions at the festival.
