Speaking to VietNamNet reporter , Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City Bui Hoa An said that the problem of shortage of materials for printing driving licenses (ink, intermediate film...) has been basically resolved. The city still has 150,000 driving licenses in stock.

Based on the actual situation, each day the staff works 12 hours overtime to print about 4,000 driving licenses. It is expected that by the end of March, the city will concentrate on facilities and staff to print enough of the above quantity to pay the people.

According to the representative of the Department of Transport, recently, people have rushed to change their driving licenses, causing overload at the application receiving points. Therefore, the relevant units have to work overtime and increase working hours to the maximum capacity to receive and process the applications...

In the coming time, the receiving points for issuance and renewal will prioritize receiving applications if the driver's license is valid for less than 10 days. At the same time, people with a driver's license that is still valid for a long time will be instructed to come back later.

The Department recommends that people should not panic due to false information and rush to renew their driving licenses, causing overload and long waiting times; at the same time, they should use the more convenient online application service.

When will the HCM City Department of Transport stop issuing and renewing driver's licenses?

Regarding the transfer of tasks from the Department to the police force, the Department of Transport said it is closely coordinating with related units. Currently, the Department has fully prepared the contents related to the task of testing and issuing driving licenses so that it can be handed over immediately when requested.

“The parties ensure that the issuance and renewal of driving licenses will not be interrupted or affect people or businesses. Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport will continue to receive applications for testing and issuing driving licenses until there is an official decision from the competent authority,” Mr. An emphasized.
