Tra Linh attracts investment to develop Ngoc Linh ginseng area

Possessing ideal natural conditions and a large growing area, Tra Linh commune is becoming an attractive destination for businesses investing in developing Ngoc Linh ginseng, a rare medicinal herb known as the "national treasure" of Vietnam.

Tra Linh commune is located at an altitude of about 1,700m, possessing ideal natural conditions for growing Ngoc Linh ginseng.

Currently, the planned area for ginseng cultivation in the whole commune is up to 7,000 hectares, one of the largest ginseng growing areas in the country. Many large corporations have surveyed and signed cooperation agreements, opening up opportunities to build raw material areas, deep processing and develop the national ginseng brand.

Attracting businesses to promote investment

Vinsam Quang Nam Co., Ltd. currently owns a ginseng garden of about 12 hectares in Ngoc Linh, with ginseng roots that are 8-10 years old. In the cool space under the canopy of the primeval forest, the ginseng beds bloom and produce bright red seeds, signaling a promising new crop season.

Company director, Mr. Bui Van Tan said: “We have developed many convenient and easy-to-use processed ginseng products. However, for Ngoc Linh ginseng to truly become a key economic crop, it is necessary for large corporations to invest, expand the deep processing market and stabilize output.”

Recently, up to 8 large enterprises, including THACO Group, BRG... have signed cooperation agreements to invest in developing Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs in Da Nang city. This opens up new opportunities for Tra Linh, which is considered the "heart" of the precious ginseng region.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Anh, Deputy General Director of BRG Group, has twice directly visited Tra Linh commune to survey the field and learn about investment conditions.

“We are very interested in the potential for economic development of medicinal herbs from Ngoc Linh ginseng. We hope that in the near future we can launch an investment project, work with the locality to build a national ginseng brand, and bring the product to the world,” Mr. Hung Anh shared.

Tra Linh commune authorities identified that deep processing and building the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand is the key step to increase added value, helping people escape poverty sustainably.

Vice Chairman of Tra Linh Commune People's Committee Tran Ngoc Hien said: "We focus on promoting and inviting businesses and scientists to invest and research in deep processing of ginseng products. When there are high-quality commercial products, the market will be expanded and people's lives will also improve."

In fact, there are currently many households participating in growing ginseng under the canopy of natural forests, both protecting the forest and developing sustainable livelihoods. Calling on businesses to participate is a strategic direction to connect production with the market, reducing dependence on the form of selling raw ginseng.

Towards a medicinal economic ecosystem

Recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the four most precious ginsengs in the world, Ngoc Linh ginseng contains more than 50 rare saponins, which have the effect of enhancing immunity, improving health and supporting the treatment of many chronic diseases. However, for Vietnamese ginseng products to reach far, it needs the support of both the public and private sectors.

With a well-planned growing area, determination from the government and expectations from businesses, Tra Linh has all the conditions to become a national center for developing Ngoc Linh ginseng.

The development of Ngoc Linh ginseng in Tra Linh is not only a story of a precious plant but also an opportunity to form a medicinal economic ecosystem typical of the mountainous area west of Da Nang. When attracting large corporations to invest in the raw material - processing - distribution area, the ginseng area will become a new economic center associated with the cultural identity, lifestyle and sustainable livelihood of the highland people.

The authorities of Da Nang city and Tra Linh commune are continuing to call for support in terms of mechanisms and policies to facilitate business investment, while implementing training programs on ginseng planting and care techniques, helping people improve their skills and income.

With the aspiration to make Tra Linh the "capital" of Ngoc Linh ginseng in Vietnam, the government, people and businesses are joining hands to gradually build a national ginseng brand, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the locality.
