Fierce competition at the sailing and stand-up paddleboarding contests in Da Nang.

The 4th annual sailing and SUP racing competition, held in Da Nang, was a vibrant and exciting event, attracting 60 young athletes from major cities and provinces.
On the morning of September 21st, at Nguyen Tat Thanh beach, Thanh Khe district, the Vietnam Sailing Federation, in coordination with the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, inaugurated the 2024 National Junior Sailing Championship, the National Junior SUP Championship, and the National Club Cup.
This year's competition attracted 60 male and female athletes from provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong , and Da Nang.
Before the competition began, the athletes were briefed on the rules and diagrams of stand-up swimming. At the same time, the athletes also took the opportunity to warm up before the competition.
The SUP (Standing Paddleboard) competition features men's and women's events in the 200m, 1,000m, 1,500m, and 2,000m distances.
The SUP tournament is divided into age groups: 10-14 years old, 15-17 years old, and an open group for those 18 years and older.
The exciting SUP competition at sea, right from the early rounds, thrilled many spectators.
The athletes clearly demonstrated their determination to perform at their best.

Athlete Nguyen Thi Nhung from Thai Nguyen said: "This is my first time participating in a competition at sea and I am very impressed with the scenery here. Nguyen Tat Thanh beach has a wide sandy area, which is convenient for moving around and competing in sailing and stand-up paddleboarding. My teammates and I have trained very hard to be as well-prepared as possible for the competition."
The enthusiastic support from the audience provided additional motivation for the athletes and made the tournament even more exciting.
In Da Nang, the practice of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) has developed very strongly in recent years, with daily morning and afternoon sessions at Man Thai beach area.
Because there was no wind, the Sailing competition had to wait until noon to begin.
Athletes competing in the Sailing (sailing) competition participate in the following events: Optimist boats (men's and women's), Laser boats, and 470 boats.
The tournament aims to promote the development of the Sailing movement nationwide; to create opportunities for young Sailing athletes across the country in general and national youth teams in particular to compete. Through this, it will assess training levels and select the most promising athletes to prepare the national team for participation in international competitions in 2024 and subsequent years.
The 2024 National Junior Sailing Championships, National Junior SUP Championships, and National Club Cup will continue until September 21st.
