The work was honored at an award ceremony in Hanoi on December 3. Artist Le Phi Hung, a lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts, spent six months completing the wood carving on Do paper, including editing the sketch and choosing the layout.

The first time he visited Ngo Quyen Temple, the author was impressed by the ancient tree, associated with the story told by the locals as the place where soldiers trained and tied their horses to rest before the Bach Dang battle in 938. This gave Le Phi Hung a sacred feeling, urging him to record historical traces. The author used the carving technique of Dong Ho folk painting artisans to show the details of the tree trunk and leaves.

By participating in the contest, Artist Le Phi Hung hopes that the event will continue to spread the value of heritage to the public, especially the young. He also hopes that his works will contribute to the preservation and honor of national culture.

The two second prizes went to the bronze engraving Hue love songs of the four seasons by Tran Thi Thanh Dung and the acrylic painting on fabric Preserving traditional cultural identity by Truong Manh Sang, each author received 50 million VND.
The Organizing Committee also awarded 3 Third Prizes, each individual received 40 million VND; 19 Encouragement Prizes and 3 Youth Prizes, each individual received 10 million VND. The works are on display at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum from December 3 to 7.
The second Vietnam Cultural Heritage through Painting Contest was launched in September 2024, with the deadline for entries being November this year. The event was jointly organized by the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund, and Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company.
After 13 months of implementation, the Organizing Committee received 1,320 entries in many genres such as: Acrylic painting, oil painting, lacquer painting, silk painting, graphic - engraving... from 900 authors in the country and overseas Vietnamese. From the number of 100 works that entered the preliminary round, the Jury selected 70 works for the final round.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Do Van Tru, Chairman of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, this year's contest has increased the number of authors and works by 1.5 to two times. This shows that the interest in cultural heritage of the community, especially the young generation, is increasingly enhanced. The addition of a youth prize for the age group of 6 - 22 is a new point of the second contest season, creating an opportunity for students to express their love for the country's cultural heritage.
