Presenting 1,330 gifts to disabled children in the provinces and cities of the Southwest region

On September 12, in Can Tho city, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for the Relief of Disabled Children in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho city organized the 9th "Lighting up the faith for children" program.

This is a meaningful program held annually to honor and encourage disabled children to overcome difficulties and rise up in life; at the same time, continue to spread love and affection for children, help and support disabled children to have more confidence and determination to overcome themselves and integrate into the community.

Outstanding disabled children received gifts from Can Tho city leaders and the program's organizing committee.

At this program, the Organizing Committee awarded 1,330 gifts (each gift includes 1 million VND in cash and 1 gift) to outstanding disabled children in especially difficult circumstances from Can Tho city and 12 provinces in the Southwest region. In Can Tho city alone, there are 130 disabled children in different difficult circumstances, children of policy families, Agent Orange victims, poor households, and ethnic minorities who have overcome difficulties and risen up, selected by the City Association of the Disabled to be recognized and receive gifts from the program.

Mr. Ngo Sach Thuc, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Relief of Disabled Children, said that in recent years, the Vietnam Association for the Relief of Disabled Children has had many practical activities, responding to campaigns and patriotic emulation movements, building safe facilities for disabled children; has successfully organized a series of activities and emulations to celebrate major events of the country, spreading the good cultural values ​​of the nation. The centers and facilities under the Association have well implemented 4 very specific and characteristic specialized contents of the Association, including: consulting, screening for early detection, coordinating with medical facilities for treatment, disability treatment, surgery; care, treatment, rehabilitation; career guidance, vocational training for disabled children.

According to Mr. Ngo Sach Thuc, after 8 times of organization, the program "Lighting up the faith for children" has spread love and good deeds in the community, received the support of many organizations and individuals in society, helping facilities, children and families of disabled children overcome difficulties after the COVID-19 pandemic. The program has supported feeding, medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation, literacy and vocational training for millions of disabled children nationwide, contributing to the good implementation of policies and laws on children and people with disabilities, supporting and improving the quality of life of disabled children. Many children have been able to go to higher education, have grown up, graduated from university, become officials, teachers, and athletes with high achievements; many children have jobs, can make their own products and have income.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City - called on all levels, sectors, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, agencies, units, organizations, individuals, and the business community at home and abroad to continue promoting the spirit of mutual love and support, actively participating in movements and activities organized by the Association of People with Disabilities. He also hoped that children with disabilities would continue to overcome difficulties and rise up, spreading the will to live a good life to the community and society.
