Japanese Yosakoi art performance at Trang An heritage site, Ninh Binh

NDO - According to information from the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association, towards the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association in coordination with the Department of Tourism of Ninh Binh province, Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise and agencies, organizations and partners of Vietnam-Japan organized the Vietnam Yosakoi Festival 2025 at Trang An Eco-tourism Area, Hoa Lu city, Ninh Binh.

Participating in the performance within the framework of the Opening Ceremony of this Festival are 7 Yosakoi clubs from the cities of Hanoi , Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam and 5 Yosakoi clubs from Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.

280 dancers performed vibrantly, energetically, colorfully and with positive energy - true to the spirit of Yosakoi to convey the message: "Heritage is not only a memory, but also a foundation for creativity and connection to the future".

The Organizing Committee and dancers of Yosakoi Clubs participated in the festival.

This is the first time the Yosakoi Festival has been held in Ninh Binh, home to the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, the first mixed heritage of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Mr. Le Ngoc Dinh, Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, expressed his belief that the organization of the Vietnam Yosakoi Festival this time will not only help the audience better understand the beauty of cultural exchange between the two countries, but also contribute to promoting the currently very good Vietnam-Japan friendly cooperation relationship to a new height, promoting cooperation in culture, tourism, economy , trade, and investment between Ninh Binh province and Japanese partners.

The Yosakoi Festival in Trang An and AEON Ha Dong Shopping Center is also a place to spread the positive, creative, and powerful spirit of young people, enriching the tourism and cultural products of Ninh Binh and the capital Hanoi with a unique combination of heritage and modernity, culture and tourism-commerce, opening up a new direction of development for international-scale experiential-event-performance tourism products, contributing to diversifying the destination image of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.

After the Opening Ceremony and Performance Program at Trang An Eco-Tourism Area, Ninh Binh, the Vietnam Yosakoi Festival 2025 continues to be performed at AEON Mall Ha Dong, Hanoi until April 27.

Yosakoi dance originated in Japan, born right after World War II, when the whole country of Japan was in a state of crisis, life was extremely difficult. The Japanese people created a joyful dance, attracting many participants with an optimistic spirit and strong vitality, with smiles always on their faces, transmitting positive energy to the audience.

In Vietnam, along with the strong development of cultural exchange between the two countries, Yosakoi is widely known and attracts many participants, especially young people. Some Yosakoi clubs have been invited to attend the Yosakoi Festival in Japan such as the Nui Truc Sakura Yosakoi Club and the Hanoi Sennen Yosakoi Club. In 2017, they were honored to receive the title of "Yosakoi Ambassador to Vietnam" awarded by the Governor of Kochi Prefecture, Japan. In 2023, the Nui Truc Sakura Yosakoi Club of Vietnam attended and won the Cup of the Yosakoi Festival in Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
