Organic rice cultivation brings high economic efficiency in the 'rice homeland' of Nghe An

On the morning of May 6, at Bo Rao field, Thach Son hamlet, Van Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), Yen Thanh district agricultural service center coordinated with Dai Thanh Joint Stock Company to organize a demonstration of the application model of Clobalcheck technology: Application of unmanned transplanters, care by agricultural aircraft, organic rice production. Attending the workshop were representatives of a number of agricultural service cooperatives in the district.

The model was implemented on the GS999 hybrid rice variety, with a scale of 1 hectare, by 1 producer. During the planting and care process, unmanned planting, fertilizing, and pesticide spraying equipment was used, so the rice grew more evenly, increasing productivity.

The outstanding features of the model are the rice variety with good disease resistance; growing period from 123 - 127 days, long rice panicles, many grains, overlapping grains, high percentage of solid grains. The yield of the model in adverse weather conditions like this year is likely to reach 75 quintals/ha.

The model of using unmanned automatic rice transplanters, fertilizing, and spraying pesticides by agricultural aircraft brings clear economic efficiency compared to traditional rice cultivation methods, with profits increasing by more than 10 million VND/ha compared to outside the model.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Vice Chairman of Yen Thanh District People's Committee said that currently in the district there are 6 rice production models using unmanned transplanters, agricultural aircraft for care, organic rice production, in the communes: Van Thanh, Long Thanh, Cong Thanh, Minh Thanh, Lien Thanh and Hong Thanh; with a total area of nearly 100 hectares. The models all bring about clear economic efficiency, therefore, the district is directing localities to increase their application more and more.

This result contributes to promoting and mobilizing farmers to change traditional production methods and thinking to "Application of smart technology in organic rice production", in order to liberate labor, contribute to increasing income value for rice growers, towards a modern and sustainable agricultural production.
