According to Tuoi Tre Online's observations early this morning, September 8th, after typhoon number 3 swept through last night, many areas in Ha Dong and Hoai Duc ( Hanoi ) have numerous broken and uprooted trees, fallen lampposts, and advertising signs scattered everywhere.

Video shows Hanoi streets devastated by Typhoon No. 3, with wind gusts reaching level 12.

After typhoon number 3 swept through last night, many areas in Ha Dong and Hoai Duc districts (Hanoi) saw numerous trees broken, uprooted, and lampposts and advertising signs scattered everywhere.

Along Phan Dinh Phung street, fallen trees littered the area, leaving it in ruins. Ms. Anh Nguyet (a tourist from Dong Nai province) said she came to Hanoi for sightseeing, but after a night of storms, Hanoi has been terribly devastated.

"Looking at Phan Dinh Phung Street in Hanoi online and today after the storm is truly different. Trees are fallen everywhere, it's devastated, and I feel really sorry for it. I hope the effects of the storm will stop here so that Hanoi can quickly recover from the aftermath."

"I also regret not being able to take photos on this famous street while visiting the capital," said Ms. Nguyet.

In all my decades of life, I've never witnessed a storm that felled so many trees in Hanoi.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online, Ms. Bui Thi Thao (50 years old, Duong Noi, Ha Dong) said that in the decades she has lived there, she has never witnessed a storm with such strong winds that caused so many trees to break, fall, and be uprooted, even large ones. "In my neighborhood alone, dozens of trees were knocked down, blocking almost the entire road," Ms. Thao said.

According to Ms. Thao, the area where her house is located near the Geleximco urban area, close to the Aeon Hanoi supermarket, has seen many trees fall onto the road, affecting people and vehicles.

The fallen tree also severed telecommunication cables and damaged advertising signs. Therefore, according to Ms. Thao, from early morning, many residents gathered to use knives and saws to cut and clear away broken branches and fallen trees in the area.

According to Mr. Binh (who lives on To Huu Street, Van Phuc Ward, Ha Dong District), this was the first time he had witnessed such a large storm causing damage to Hanoi. Mr. Binh said that the strong winds not only knocked down trees but also damaged many lampposts, billboards, and bus shelters along the route.

In the area along Le Trong Tan Street (the section passing through An Khanh, Hoai Duc, Hanoi), from early morning, many residents, especially businesses on both sides of the road, have been cooperating with the forces to clean up and cut down fallen branches and trees after the impact of typhoon No. 3.

Mr. Ngo Quang Khoi (65 years old, Phan Dinh Phung Street) said that although he has lived in Hanoi since childhood, he has never seen such a big storm in the capital.

“Like a bombing raid, trees were felled from Phan Dinh Phung Street to Nguyen Bieu Street, even century-old trees were knocked down. As a resident of Hanoi, witnessing this scene made me feel very sad,” Mr. Khoi said.

Quang Ninh: 'The storm was predicted to be strong, but we didn't think it would be this big.'

On the morning of September 8th, people in Ha Long City began leaving their homes to clean up their houses, trees, and shops after Typhoon No. 3 passed.

Along Tran Quoc Nghien coastal road (Ha Long city), trees and billboards lie scattered everywhere, along with corrugated iron roofs, broken glass, and roof tiles.

While clearing away the corrugated iron roof of her family home, which had been torn apart and blown close to the seashore by the storm, Mrs. Van (from Hong Ha ward) said that in over 50 years of living in Ha Long, she had never seen a storm as strong as typhoon number 3.

Ms. Van said that the storm blew the corrugated iron roof of her house about 700 meters away, right next to the seashore.

“The storm raged from 10 a.m. until evening. I stayed inside, watching, and with each strong gust, the sky was filled with debris. The corrugated iron roof of my house was ripped off by the storm and blown down onto the street. At that time, my whole family could only stay inside and watch; we didn't dare go outside. This morning, when the storm subsided, I went out to look for it. I searched for a long time before I found it; the storm had carried it too far away,” said Mrs. Van.

Ms. Ha, who runs a business near Tran Quoc Nghien street, said that the storm swept away all her belongings and the corrugated iron roof.

“I heard the forecast predicted a big storm, but I didn't think the wind would be this strong. Yesterday, I was inside the house and the wind was howling, the corrugated iron roof was shaking and rattling as if it wanted to blow everything away. Since I was old enough to understand, this is the strongest storm I've ever witnessed,” Ms. Ha shared.
