Salvaging Ha Long Bay tourist boat, discovering 2 more bodies

From the evening of July 19 to the morning of July 20, rescue work continued on the capsized tourist boat in Ha Long Bay in the hope of finding more victims.

Accordingly, from 0:00 on July 20, Quang Ninh province authorities mobilized 4 large ships to the scene to support the salvage and capsize work. The divers completed the search around the hull of the ship, moved out and proceeded to tie specialized ropes to capsize the ship again.

After nearly 2 hours of technical measures, the Green Bay tourist boat was salvaged and capsized again. Authorities searched the area inside the boat and discovered 2 more bodies trapped.

The ship will then lift the crane, pump out the water and continue to search the hold for the remaining person.

Throughout last night until this morning, about 30 divers were mobilized to participate in the search, including forces: Mine Rescue (TKV), Fire Police Department and Search and Rescue ( Ministry of Public Security ); Quang Ninh Provincial Police; Ha Long Bay Management Board... participated in the search but no more missing victims have been found.

After more than 13 hours of effort by thousands of people and hundreds of vehicles from various forces, at 5:30 a.m. on July 20, the authorities collected the remaining belongings of the victims to serve the purpose of identity verification.

According to Thanh Nien reporters , by the morning of July 20, rescue work was still underway, and the sky and sea in Ha Long Bay were calm.

As Thanh Nien reported, at around 1:30 p.m. on July 19, the Green Bay 5 tourist ship with registration number QN-7105 left Ha Long International Passenger Port (Bai Chay Ward, Quang Ninh) to take passengers to visit Ha Long Bay on route 2.

After leaving the port, the ship arrived at Dau Go cave area when suddenly a storm appeared in the bay, causing the ship to capsize.
