Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Berlin quoted several major German newspapers DPA and Heidenheimer-Zeitung as reporting that Vietnam celebrated its Independence Day with a large-scale military parade. The event attracted hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country to the capital Hanoi. The historic Ba Dinh Square - where 80 years ago President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence - was filled with the red of the national flag and the colors of the people's clothes, demonstrating a strong spirit of national unity.
The parade lasted nearly 3 hours with the participation of 16,000 soldiers, showing off Vietnam's comprehensive defense power in the air, on land and at sea. Particularly impressive was the display of modern military equipment such as Mi-171 helicopters, Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets, domestic drones, and the first appearance of warships and submarines in a parade at sea.
The event also saw the participation of military units and senior politicians from friendly countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, China, Russia and Belarus, demonstrating Vietnam's good foreign relations.
The German press also highlighted Vietnam's impressive development journey from a poor country to one of the fastest growing economies in the world. In 2024, Vietnam will achieve a growth rate of 7.09%, becoming an attractive destination with 17.5 million international visitors and an investment destination for many German businesses.
