Don't ask what the Fatherland has done for us
What should Vietnamese youth do in the context of the country facing a historical moment requiring historic decisions to prepare for entering a new era is also the question and requirement raised by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in his speech at the 2024 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award Ceremony.
While the country is transforming strongly to enter a new era, the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces of 2024 also expressed their desire to contribute to the era of national growth, marking Vietnam on the world map in many aspects.
Winning two Gold Medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad in 2023 and 2024 and being proud to be honored as the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of 2024, Nguyen Huu Tien Hung, a student at Hanoi Medical University, shared that although studying is a challenging process, he will always strive to develop himself, adapt to the development of the world to serve the country and the people. This is also the affirmation of the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of 2024 Than The Cong. Emphasizing that studying is a journey of continuous improvement and effort, Cong said that lifelong learning is not just a slogan but a responsibility of young people, ready to face challenges to achieve their goals.
While Than The Cong and Nguyen Huu Tien Hung are still students in the lecture hall, Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, VinUni University, has patented inventions with international exclusive rights and dozens of scientific articles published in prestigious international journals such as "VinDr medical imaging diagnostic software based on artificial intelligence technology". According to Dr. Hieu, young people not only benefit from the achievements of science and technology but must also be pioneers in that journey. When science and technology open up new development spaces for the country, there, our young people and young citizens will have the opportunity to access new knowledge, learn and update new technological skills to improve career opportunities, deploy new economic models to contribute to the development of the country.
Dr. Pham Huy Hieu believes that the young generation of Vietnam will have enough faith, aspiration, and courage to join the development flow of the whole nation. “To seize that opportunity, young citizens need to be ready for innovation, update information, and equip themselves with knowledge and skills. Learning and lifelong learning are the keys for each person to always be ready to adapt to all changes in the future,” Dr. Pham Huy Hieu expressed.
Also a young scientist with many remarkable achievements, Hoang Khac Hieu, Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group, said that Resolution 57 of the Politburo on science and technology development has been issued, showing the trust and expectation of the Party and State in the role of young human resources in the country's development. "This is an opportunity for us young people to have more confidence, mechanisms and environments to promote our capacity and aspiration to contribute. I believe that, with the support of policies and the pioneering spirit of the young generation, we will bring the country to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's great powers," said Hoang Khac Hieu.
Professor Tran Xuan Bach - Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of 2016, who has been contributing to bringing Vietnamese medicine to the international level. After being honored, Professor Tran Xuan Bach continued to have many research projects in the field of preventive medicine. Professor Tran Xuan Bach has just received the Global Healthcare Innovation Leadership Award 2025.
Young people, wherever they are in the world, continue to write the mission of national pride.
Nguyen Van Thien Vu (Founder of AgriDrone Vietnam Aviation Equipment Joint Stock Company) shared that as young Vietnamese people in the new era, we need to be steadfast in the Party's ideals and the State's policies, and strive to improve every day. "As a young entrepreneur in the high-tech field, my team and I always strive to develop, to integrate internationally, and to be ready for the national digital transformation race, bringing Vietnamese brands to the international level."

According to Vu, to develop the country, more than ever, young people need to cultivate the depth of their souls, understand the cultural and historical values of the nation, to love and appreciate the contributions of their ancestors, leaders and predecessors who have worked hard to cultivate for today's young generation. "We, the young people, have the responsibility to inherit, protect and promote those precious cultural and traditional values. I believe that, with solidarity, courage and intelligence, Vietnamese youth will fulfill their historical mission, bringing the country to rise strongly in the new era," Vu believes.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Le Hung (former student of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. He is the author of 22 scientific works, including 12 international scientific publications in prestigious journals; was nominated for the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award in 2022, 2023), lecturer at the Paris Engineering School (EIVP), Gustave Eiffel University (UGE), France; member of the Executive Board of the Global Network of Young Vietnamese Intellectuals expressed that, as a young Vietnamese living abroad, Dr. Hung hopes that the activities of the Union and other organizations and networks will be more exciting, substantial and effective, especially in the context that the Politburo has just issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology (S&T) development, innovation and national digital transformation with two centenary goals. In recent years, the events of the Central Youth Union have partly supported and helped Vietnamese youth at home and abroad to speak up, make recommendations on all issues and fields of the country, promote the role of youth as masters of the country, arouse national pride and love for the Fatherland. However, in order for the country to truly rise up, it is necessary to promote and make the most of the role of young intellectuals not only at home but also abroad, because Vietnamese people abroad are an inseparable part.
Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW has just been issued at the right time when the Party's will blends with the people's heart, expressing the aspiration to build a prosperous and happy country. This is also the time to converge all advantages and strengths to bring the country into a new era, an era of national development.
General Secretary To Lam has requested a specific plan for building high-quality human resources, especially science and technology talents; paying special attention to Vietnamese experts in the overseas Vietnamese community; those who understand Vietnamese culture, have grown up in developed countries, are knowledgeable in expertise, management and have extensive international connections.
Associate Professor Dr. Tran Le Hung believes that all Vietnamese people at home and abroad have confidence in the path that our Party has chosen because that path meets the requirements and aspirations of the majority of Vietnamese people. For Dr. Hung personally, serving the Fatherland is not only a duty and obligation of a citizen but also a right, pride and honor for Vietnamese youth to contribute to the construction and protection of the Fatherland, adding to the historical tradition, continuing the revolutionary path of our ancestors.
According to Dr. Hung, Vietnamese people everywhere always have patriotism and look towards their homeland and the Fatherland and always want to contribute their efforts to the construction and protection of the country in many different forms: Contributing intelligence, finance, giving development ideas, connecting Vietnam to the world and bringing the world to Vietnam... For young Vietnamese scientists living abroad, the desire to accompany the country's innovation is even stronger because they understand that developing the country through science, technology, and knowledge is the right, fastest, most sustainable and surest direction.
Practice has also proven that many developed countries in the world have succeeded in this direction. Recently, Dr. Hung has observed that many young Vietnamese intellectuals have returned to Vietnam and initially succeeded in their scientific research careers, with outstanding achievements. In addition, each citizen also needs to maximize the spirit of "5 self" as General Secretary To Lam mentioned: self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride.
With the support of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, the Global Network of Young Vietnamese Intellectuals was established and put into operation in 2018. Since then, the Network has operated in the form of a forum, gathering many young Vietnamese intellectuals studying, living and working at home and abroad. The Network organizes many forums, seminars and talks, where young intellectuals around the world can speak up about the country's social security, education, science and technology issues and be listened to.
It can be said that, with the support of the Party and Government, the young generation will not only catch up, but also lead the wave of global digital transformation, develop science and technology, and innovate - continuing the story of national pride...
