The National U.17 Championship is a tournament within the national competition system organized annually by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), aiming to provide training and professional experience for young players. At the same time, it's an opportunity for clubs to develop future talent, aligning with the development model of modern football and the international competition systems of the FIFA and AFC. Over the years, the National U.17 Championship has also become an important stepping stone, helping Vietnamese football experts discover new talents.
According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the U.17 National Championship Finals are expected to feature a thrilling competition among 12 teams: Hanoi, PVF, The Cong Viettel, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, SLNA, LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau , Becamex Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Dong, Dong Thap, and Tay Ninh. Last year, U.17 The Cong - Viettel convincingly won the championship. Therefore, this team remains one of the strong contenders for the title this year.
During the U.17 national championship qualifiers, many promising players emerged and delivered impressive performances. Among them, Nguyen Le Quang Khoi – the son of 2008 AFF Cup champion Nguyen Quang Hai – was one of the most outstanding players, contributing to the excellent performance of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau U.17 team. Regarding the schedule, the tournament will take place in Ba Ria - Vung Tau from July 5th to July 17th, 2024. Teams will be divided into three groups A, B, and C (4 teams per group), playing a round-robin format within each group to determine points and rankings. The top three teams, the top three second-place teams, and the two best third-place teams will advance to the knockout round.
