(gialai.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of November 2, the Provincial People's Committee held a direct and online meeting with departments, branches, sectors and 58 communes and wards in the eastern part of the province to deploy preparations for responding to storm No. 13 (storm Kalmaegi). Chairing the meeting were comrades: Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Duong Mah Tiep - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, there is currently no specific forecast on the wind level caused by storm No. 13. However, according to forecast sources, storm No. 13 is likely to affect the sea and mainland of Gia Lai province with strong winds between November 5 and November 7, 2025. This is considered a strong storm.

In the past 24 hours, Gia Lai province has had moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall in the eastern part of the province ranging from 20 to 50mm. Some stations recorded heavy rain, including: Thach Khe lake 108mm, Binh Duong town 107mm and Phu My Dong commune 91mm. According to the forecast, from November 2 to the morning of November 4, the eastern part of Gia Lai province will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, some places have very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 50 to 150mm, some places over 200mm. Currently, the water level of rivers in the province is low, below alert level 1. Reservoirs in the province ensure the design capacity, water sources remain stable.

Regarding the evacuation of residents in landslide areas, in the eastern part of the province, there are 04 areas at risk of landslides during heavy rains and floods (Nui Ganh, De Gi commune, 66 households/300 people; Nui Cam, Cat Tien commune, 64 households/232 people; Tra Cong, An Hoa commune, 77 households/257 people; village 3, Vinh Son commune, 40 households/132 people). In recent days, localities have evacuated residents in these areas. Specifically, 6 households/20 people were evacuated in Tra Cong (evacuated on October 29 and have returned home) and 15 households/51 people were evacuated in Nui Ganh (interleaved evacuation from October 29 and have not returned home yet).

Currently, there are 4,476 vessels operating inshore in the province, anchored at ports and 1,301 operating at sea with more than 40,000 crew members. The Provincial Military Command, the Fisheries Sub-Department, the Quy Nhon Coastal Information Station, the Newspaper and Radio and Television and the People's Committees of coastal communes and wards have informed the families of the vessel owners to notify the vessels operating at sea about the strong winds at sea.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan requested departments, branches and localities to absolutely not be subjective or negligent in the work of preventing and fighting storm No. 13. He requested that departments and localities need to closely follow the tasks and plans that have been developed to deploy response measures.

In particular, it is necessary to strictly maintain a 24/7 duty regime to promptly respond and handle situations that arise; ensure absolute safety for people's lives, promptly evacuate people and property from dangerous areas, areas at risk of landslides and floods; ensure all ships and boats take safe shelter from storms; regularly update the situation and information for all levels, sectors and people to proactively deploy response measures. It is required to upgrade the forecasting level to have "early, remote" preparation and control, to avoid being passive and surprised.

The Provincial Military Command was assigned to gather drones to survey the situation in key areas. The Department of Finance urgently allocated the provincial budget for the Provincial Military Command to purchase 02 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to transport goods and deliver emergency supplies in isolated areas that boats could not reach. The Provincial Police directed local police to support people in evacuating, placing their belongings high and protecting their property during evacuation.

The Department of Science and Technology coordinates with telecommunications units to maintain and ensure communication, fully equip walkie-talkies; research and deploy mobile broadcasting stations. The electricity industry plans to prepare backup power sources.

The health sector and localities are prepared with full medical supplies, equipment, and medicines to prevent necessary cases. Fuel, ships, boats, canoes, and life jackets are ready in vulnerable areas at risk of flooding. Along with that, people are advised to prepare food, food, canned food, and instant food that can be stored for a long time such as bread, dry food, bottled water, etc. Comrade Pham Anh Tuan requested communes and wards to resolutely evacuate residents in vulnerable areas at risk of landslides and flooding until the end of the rainy season. The head will be held responsible for this task, absolutely not allowing human casualties to occur.
