The youngest professor candidate in 2025 was once the youngest associate professor in the country.

(Dan Tri) - With the title of professor, the youngest candidate this year is Mr. Vo Hoang Hung, 38 years old, majoring in Mathematics, working at Saigon University. He was the youngest associate professor, recognized 4 years ago.

The State Council of Professors has just announced the list of candidates proposed by the Basic Council of Professors to be considered for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025.

Accordingly, the list includes 933 candidates in 26 majors and interdisciplinary fields.

The economics sector has the highest number of candidates proposed for the title of professor and associate professor with 153 people. This number is more than 4 times the number of candidates in the mathematics sector. Of which, the number of candidates proposed for the title of professor is 11 people.

With the title of professor, the youngest candidate this year is Mr. Vo Hoang Hung, 38 years old, majoring in Mathematics, working at Saigon University.

Mr. Vo Hoang Hung was born in 1987, from Vinh Long, and grew up in Can Tho . Previously, he was one of the four youngest associate professors, recognized in January 2021.

He is known for his outstanding achievements in mathematics. Throughout his junior high school and high school years, Hung was always one of the top students in his class in mathematics.

In grade 10, Hung won a gold medal in the April 30 Olympic exam.

In grade 11, Hung participated in the Mekong Delta excellent student exam - an exam for grade 12 students but still got first place.

In grade 12, Hung won third prize in the national math competition.

In 2005, he entered the Mathematics Department of the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), graduating with honors from the talented bachelor program.

At the end of 2009, he continued his graduate studies and was retained at the University of Natural Sciences to work for a while as a lecturer.

At the end of 2011, he received 3 doctoral scholarships at the same time and chose the Marie Curie scholarship at the University of Paris 6, France.

In 2015, he returned to the country to work and worked in many places before choosing to work at Saigon University from 2018 to present.

Mr. Vo Hoang Hung is the main author of the work "Convex integration method for scalar conservation laws in one-dimensional cases", published in the SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis (SIMA) on calculus. This is one of three works nominated for the Ta Quang Buu Award for young scientists in 2020.

He has published 23 scientific articles, of which 21 are in prestigious international journals.
