On the afternoon of October 27, the Quang Tri Province Civil Defense Command said that in the past 12 hours, there has been heavy rain in the area. Water levels on Gianh, Nhat Le, Kien Giang, Ben Hai, and Thach Han rivers are at alert level 1, and O Lau River is at alert level 2.

Heavy rains caused many roads and bridges in Vinh Dinh, Dien Sanh, Ba Long, A Doi, Dakrong, and Nam Hai Lang communes (Quang Tri province) to be flooded, causing isolation.

Mr. Tran Trong Kim, Chairman of the People's Committee of A Doi commune, informed that there were 3 points in the area that were isolated due to heavy rain, affecting people's travel.

According to Mr. Kim, on the morning of October 27, floodwaters rose at Loa and Xa Tuong sluices in A Doi commune, causing 11 teachers working at Ba Tang Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities to be stuck on their way to school.

Faced with the complicated developments of the flood, Ba Tang Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities has asked for the opinion of superiors and given teachers and students a temporary break to ensure safety.

“I and 10 other teachers went to school but got stuck because the road was cut off by the flood. Many places on Provincial Road 586 were flooded so we are taking temporary shelter at local people’s houses, waiting for the water to recede,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh, a teacher at Ba Tang Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

In areas deeply flooded by heavy rain and floods, local authorities in Quang Tri have set up barriers and posted warning signs, prohibiting people from passing through to ensure safety.

Localities in this province also assigned forces to monitor and continue to grasp the situation at points at risk of flooding and landslides to have response plans.
