China-Vietnam freight transport increased sharply in the first month of the year

According to the Nanning branch of China Railway Group Limited, Guangxi Province exported 3,062 TEU of goods to Vietnam in the first month of this year, a 760% increase compared to the same period last year, continuing the trend of increased transportation to promote trade between the two countries.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Beijing, the time it takes to transport goods from Nanning station in China to An Vien station in Vietnam is only about 14 hours. This is one of the major advantages in terms of time and transportation costs.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Han, an employee of the Railway Logistics Center of China Railway Group Co., Ltd., Nanning branch, freight trains between China and Vietnam have increased the transport of various goods such as fiberboard, LCD screens, and diesel engines since the beginning of the year, with year-on-year growth rates of 1,000%, 254%, and 33%, respectively. Before the Lunar New Year, the demand for Tet goods such as candy, beverages, decorative cardboard, and spices was also relatively high, peaking in mid-January with an average of one additional cross-border freight train per day.

Given the high demand for transportation on the China-Vietnam railway line, the Nanning branch of China Railway Group Limited has proactively contacted customers to understand actual needs and customize transportation plans for businesses, such as allocating sufficient containers and balancing cargo transportation between Nanning and Pingxiang stations to meet freight demands. In addition, customs and relevant departments on both sides have strengthened information exchange and communication to expedite cargo delivery and improve the efficiency of railway transportation between the two countries.

Currently, cargo ships departing from Guangxi have connected with 25 provinces and cities in China, delivering goods to many countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, thereby enhancing the efficiency of trade between China and ASEAN.
