The flight departed at 18:10 from Shenzhen and landed in Van Don at 20:00 using a Boeing 737-800, bringing the first group of Chinese tourists back to Quang Ninh after a hiatus due to the pandemic.

According to the plan, Shenzhen - Van Don charter flights will be operated periodically on the 1st, 6th, 10th, 15th, 20th and 24th of each month, with a flight time of only about 2 hours. The reopening of this route will significantly shorten the travel time, while opening up opportunities for trade, tourism and investment between the two major economic and tourism centers of Southeast Asia and South China (China).

A representative of Van Don International Airport said that restoring flights to Shenzhen, China's most modern city, is a strategic move to open up potential international tourist flows, especially in the mid- and high-end segments.

"The effective exploitation of the Van Don - Shenzhen route will not only promote tourism potential but also affirm the position of Van Don airport in the regional aviation network, contributing to the goal of increasing international visitors to Quang Ninh," he shared.

Van Don International Airport was built according to the 4E standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), is the first private airport in Vietnam with modern infrastructure, advanced technology and international standard services. The system of terminals, runways, immigration areas and international waiting rooms are all optimally arranged, well meeting the needs of passengers.

The airport also cooperated with airlines and tourism businesses to organize welcoming activities and showcase local culinary culture to create a positive impression for tourists. The charter flight operation took place at the right time when Quang Ninh launched a tourism stimulus campaign at the end of 2025 with the theme "Quang Ninh - Experience heritage, connect the world", aiming to welcome 20 million visitors, including 4.5 million international visitors.

In 2026, Van Don airport is expected to welcome more charter flights from Cheongju (South Korea) and expand cooperation with many other Asian markets, contributing to making Quang Ninh an attractive international destination in the region.
