On the evening of October 27, at the 2025 Asian Youth Games (ASIAD), weightlifter Nguyen Thanh Duy brought home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation, and broke the Asian youth record in the men's 65kg clean and jerk event.

Although only ranked fourth in the snatch, Thanh Duy still maintained his confidence and determination when entering the clean and jerk competition. He successively conquered the weights before lifting 156kg, officially breaking the Asian youth record and rising to the top.

The moment his Chinese opponent failed at 157kg opened up a burst of joy for the Vietnamese weightlifting team. Thanh Duy - the young man from Khanh Hoa not only won the gold medal but also became a symbol of the spirit of overcoming difficulties and bravery of the young generation of athletes in the country.

With this historic victory, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 1 gold medal, 5 silver medals and 6 bronze medals, ending an emotional competition day and opening up expectations for a breakthrough in the following days of the congress.
