Nguyen Thanh Duy quenches the thirst for gold for Vietnamese sports
After days of competition with only silver and bronze medals, today the members of the Vietnamese sports delegation burst into joy when 16-year-old athlete Nguyen Thanh Duy quenched his thirst for gold in weightlifting at the Asian Youth Games.
Specifically, in the final of the men's 65 kg weight class, Nguyen Thanh Duy excellently defeated opponents from China, Kazakhstan, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Kyrgyzstan when he won the gold medal in the clean and jerk event with a score of 156 kg.

The final round of this weight class was very exciting. In the snatch, Nguyen Thanh Duy only ranked 4th with a score of 120 kg. However, in the clean and jerk, the weightlifter from Khanh Hoa successfully lifted 156 kg, thereby defeating Wang Bohang (China, score of 155 kg) to win the precious gold medal.
Previously, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 5 silver and 6 bronze medals in athletics, weightlifting, muay, and taekwondo. The Vietnamese sports delegation sent 75 members to attend the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain from October 22 to 31.
