At Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi), Ho Chi Minh City Police Club suffered a 0-1 defeat against Hanoi Police in the V-League Round 8 derby match.

Despite playing with a man advantage from the 21st minute after Le Van Do of Hanoi Police received a red card, Ho Chi Minh City Police still struggled to break through and conceded the only goal in the 36th minute.

"We had many opportunities to counter-attack, especially after Hanoi Police FC was reduced to ten men. However, the attacking players were too eager to score, while the defense was inexperienced. I am at fault for not preparing my players with an attacking strategy when the opponent was down to ten men," Coach Le Huynh Duc said in the post-match press conference.

When asked about the stagnant attack, in which Vietnamese-American striker Lee Williams is still trusted to start, coach Le Huynh Duc revealed the unavoidable reason.

"Most of the attacking players were injured, and I had no one else, so I brought Lee Williams on. He came on just to put pressure on the opposing team. This was also an opportunity for him to integrate quickly. Vietnamese football is new to him, and due to the language barrier, he hasn't gotten used to and adapted to the team's style of play yet," Mr. Duc shared.

On behalf of Hanoi Police FC, head coach Alexandre Polking shared: "I am very proud of the players. After Van Do was sent off, the remaining players fought to fill his shoes. Young goalkeeper Vu Thanh Vinh did a good job replacing Nguyen Filip."

Although Hanoi Police neutralized Ho Chi Minh City Police's attack, coach Polking still praised striker Nguyen Tien Linh of the opposing team.

"Tien Linh is currently the best striker in Vietnam. However, we organized a low and tight defense, and blocked crosses from both wings, which made it difficult for the strikers. Even so, Linh still had a dangerous opportunity and deserves praise," said Polking.
