At Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi), Ho Chi Minh City Police Club lost 0-1 to Hanoi Police in the V-League round 8 derby.

Despite having one more player from the 21st minute after Le Van Do of Hanoi Police received a red card, Ho Chi Minh City Police still played deadlocked and conceded the only goal in the 36th minute.

"We had many chances to counterattack, especially after the situation where the Hanoi Police team lost a player. However, the attacking players were too eager to find a goal, while the defense was immature. I am at fault for not preparing my players with an attack plan when the opponent lost a player," coach Le Huynh Duc said at the press conference after the match.

When asked about the deadlocked attack, in which Vietnamese-American striker Lee Williams is still trusted to play as a starter, coach Le Huynh Duc revealed the reluctant reason.

"Most of the attacking players are injured, I have no one left so I let Lee Williams enter the field. He only came in to put pressure on the other team. This is also an opportunity for me to create conditions for him to quickly integrate. Vietnamese football is still new to him, and due to the language barrier, he has not yet become familiar and adapted to the team's playing style," Mr. Duc shared.

Regarding the Hanoi Police Club, head coach Alexandre Polking shared: "I am very proud of the players. After Van Do was sent off, the remaining players fought in his place. Young goalkeeper Vu Thanh Vinh did a good job replacing Nguyen Filip."

Although Hanoi Police neutralized the attack of Ho Chi Minh City Police, Coach Polking still praised striker Nguyen Tien Linh on the opponent's side.

"Tien Linh is the best striker in Vietnam at the moment. However, we organized a low and tight defense, and prevented crosses from the wings, which made it difficult for the strikers. However, Linh still had a dangerous opportunity and deserved to receive praise," said Mr. Polking.
