[Video] Tightening management and stepping up crime suppression amid the emergence of new tricks

Presenting the Report, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang said that in 2025, the world and domestic security situation continued to develop complicatedly, but the Government had directed ministries, branches and localities to resolutely implement many solutions to maintain national security and social order and safety. The forces had promoted the movement of the entire people to protect national security, applied the National Population Database in crime prevention and strictly managed illegal drug users.

Last year, the police launched 9 peak campaigns to attack and suppress crime; the rate of investigation and discovery of cases reached over 81%, of which very serious and especially serious cases exceeded the target set by the National Assembly. Most types of crime decreased, including crimes against social order, economics , corruption, environment, information technology and drugs. However, crimes of fraud, property appropriation and production and trade of counterfeit goods still increased.

The inspection report of the Committee on Law and Justice stated that overall crime decreased by nearly 20%, but public disorder increased by over 20%, counterfeit goods increased by over 47% and illegal drug users increased by over 28%. In addition, some limitations still exist such as the rate of handling crime reports and denunciations has not met requirements; violations in temporary detention and imprisonment still occur; and state management in some areas still has loopholes.

The agencies proposed to continue perfecting the law, improving the quality of situation forecasting, increasing the application of technology, focusing on reducing crime and completely overcoming existing problems by 2026.
