Vietnam hosts Asian Robotics Competition

Thirteen excellent teams from 12 countries and territories will participate in the Asia- Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon), taking place from August 23 to 27 in Quang Ninh.

ABU Robocon is a playground for students with a passion for robotics from countries and territories in the Asia- Pacific region. In 2024, Vietnam is honored to be the host country of ABU Robocon 2024.

With the theme Harvest Day , the competition promises to bring dramatic and creative matches, while honoring the value of traditional agriculture . The theme was chosen to honor the value of agriculture, especially rice cultivation on terraced fields, a characteristic of Vietnamese culture. Participating robots will have to perform tasks simulating the rice growing process, from sowing to harvesting.

The event is not only a competition, but also an opportunity for young people to exchange, learn and share experiences. In addition to the official matches, the Organizing Committee will also organize many attractive sideline activities such as exchanging and sharing knowledge about programming, building robots, and visiting programs of Ha Long Bay natural heritage.

Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television , representing the Organizing Committee, shared: “We are very honored to organize ABU Robocon 2024. This is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce the country's image to international friends, while affirming Vietnam's position in the field of technology as well as the professionalism of Vietnam Television in organizing and promoting international events. Up to this point, VTV has carefully carried out the work related to organizing and preparing for the competition.”

Coordinating the organization of the ABU Robocon 2024 competition, Quang Ninh province has prepared well the facilities, competition venues, and ensured power sources and Internet connections. Relevant departments and branches have also developed plans to ensure security and safety for the teams during the competition as well as participating in side events.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: "Quang Ninh ensures that the stadium is fully equipped with equipment and facilities according to international standards, has a plan to ensure absolute safety for contestants from all countries, ensures medical work, information and communication work, and tourist destinations are also included in this Robocon event with the goal of coordinating in the most positive, proactive and responsible way so that the ABURobocon competition takes place successfully in Quang Ninh".

Regarding communication work, the entire competition on August 25 will be broadcast live on VTV2 channel and livestreamed on the social network platform Facebook VTV2 Quality of Life .

In addition to the official matches, the Organizing Committee will also organize many attractive sideline activities such as knowledge sharing and exchange on programming and control, robot construction, and tours to the natural heritage of Ha Long Bay. This is not only an opportunity for young people to show their talents, but also an opportunity to exchange, learn and share valuable experiences.
