Vietnam will promote its domestically produced weapons at the 2022 defense exhibition.

At the press conference, Major General Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Political Commissar of the General Department of Defense Industry, announced that the exhibition will take place from December 8-10 at Gia Lam Airport ( Hanoi ).

The exhibition covers a total area of over 50,000 ^m² , with indoor and outdoor display areas exceeding 20,000 ^m² . To date, more than 170 domestic and international companies and businesses from 30 countries in ASEAN, Asia, Europe, and America have registered to have exhibition booths at the exhibition.

Major General Nguyen Viet Hung also stated that the exhibition is a place for Vietnam to promote and publicize the capabilities and technological potential of weapons and equipment produced by Vietnam's defense industry to international friends and the people at home, contributing to the protection of the Fatherland from early on and from afar.

"The exhibition also provides an opportunity for countries, domestic and international companies and businesses to introduce and showcase their products and seek opportunities to expand cooperation in the defense industry."

"We study the development trends of weapons and technical equipment worldwide to propose, select, purchase, manufacture, and improve weapons and equipment for the military, and seek opportunities to export products of Vietnam's defense industry," Mr. Hung shared.

At the exhibition, domestic and international defense companies showcased combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, and equipment used by the navy, army, air defense - air force, cyber warfare, and logistical and technical equipment.

Vietnamese products displayed and introduced at the exhibition include products from agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense, including: the General Department of Defense Industry, the Air Force, the Navy, the Military Technical Academy, the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, the Military Telecommunications Industry Group (Viettel), and trade and service companies of the Ministry of National Defense; and products researched and manufactured by the Security Industry Department (Ministry of Public Security).

At the exhibition, the organizers arranged a cultural space, a culinary space, and a display area titled "Economy and Defense in the Digital Age" to showcase typical milestones of the Vietnam People's Army in each historical period associated with socio-economic development; connecting with the cyberspace exhibition.

The public will be able to visit the exhibition.

Colonel Pham Manh Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of National Defense), said the exhibition will be open from 9 am to 6 pm for three days, from December 8 to 10.

According to Colonel Thang, people can visit the exhibition free of charge for two days, December 9-10, from 2 PM to 6 PM.

To date, 45 official delegations have registered to visit Vietnam and attend the exhibition, including guests of the Minister and Deputy Minister of National Defence, leaders of military units, leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State, leaders of ministries and agencies, leaders of the Ministry of National Defence, and speakers.

In addition, this year's exhibition will serve as an experience, aiming towards organizing it every two years. This includes the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.

This year's exhibition includes many activities, with the main events being: the opening ceremony; and performances by the Vietnamese Air Force and the Vietnam People's Army Special Forces to welcome the exhibition.
