On the evening of September 6, U23 Vietnam had the second match in Group C against Singapore in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. The starting lineup of U23 Vietnam had many changes compared to the victory over Bangladesh.
Accordingly, coach Kim Sang Sik only kept 5 old positions. He kept goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, two central defenders Nhat Minh and Hieu Minh, captain midfielder Nguyen Van Truong and striker Dinh Bac.
The remaining 6 players on the field from the start were central defenders Tuan Phong, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Thai Son, Minh Phuc. The two strikers Viktor Le and Nguyen Cong Phuong replaced Ngoc My and Thanh Nhan.
Changing the lineup is a common habit of the Korean coach. After the attack in the 2-0 win over Bangladesh lacked sharpness, U23 Vietnam immediately changed.
Viktor Le, who came off the bench in the previous match, scored the winning goal in the 2-0 win over Bangladesh U23. His reward was a starting spot on the left wing against Singapore.
Cong Phuong, of The Cong - Viettel , is expected to refresh his finishing ability to replace Nguyen Phi Hoang, who hit the post and crossbar twice in the previous match.
U23 Vietnam is aiming for an early victory against Singapore to easily calculate for the top spot in Group C. If they have 6 points after 2 matches, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will have a good mentality against U23 Yemen.
U23 Yemen had a thrilling victory over U23 Bangladesh with a score of 1-0 in extra time. Thus, Yemen also has 6 points to aim for the match to compete for the top spot in the group with U23 Vietnam.
The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Singapore takes place at 7:00 p.m. at Phu Tho Stadium.
