The projects clearly demonstrate creativity, practical application and positive contributions to socio- economic development, national defense and security.
The award ceremony was organized by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and was broadcast live on VTV2 channel.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung - President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, President of VIFOTEC Foundation emphasized the role of science and technology in the country's development.
He quoted General Secretary To Lam: “Only science, technology and innovation are the ways to help us catch up, progress together, break through and surpass ourselves and the world.”
Also at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy launched the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2025. The award will continue to focus on 6 key technology areas and accept applications until October 15.
In 2024, the Organizing Committee received 128 projects from ministries, corporations, research institutes, universities and localities across the country. Through the evaluation of the Jury, 42 projects were selected for awards, including: 5 First prizes, 9 Second prizes, 13 Third prizes, 15 Encouragement prizes.
The projects are in 6 fields: Mechanics - Automation; Materials; Information technology, electronics - telecommunications; Biology for production and life; Responding to climate change, protecting the environment and resources; Energy saving and new energy.
Among the projects that won the First Prize this year, the most notable is the project to manufacture 23 x 152 mm incendiary bullets by Factory Z113 (General Department of Defense Industry), contributing to mastering the technology of manufacturing special weapons domestically.

In the environmental field, Duy Tan Plastic Recycling Joint Stock Company was honored with its PET plastic bottle recycling solution using the “bottle-to-bottle” model, helping to reduce plastic pollution and promote a circular economy.
In addition, the new generation transmission security system for satellite information networks developed by the Government Cipher Committee is also highly appreciated for its ability to protect strategic information security.
In the field of materials, the Institute of Propellants and Explosives has perfected the technology of producing mono-base propellants for anti-aircraft ammunition, helping to replace imported sources.
In the energy sector, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) was awarded for its design of well completion kits for complex oil and gas fields, improving production efficiency and saving costs.
In addition to domestic awards, many projects were also awarded the Gold Medal by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for their excellent application of the intellectual property system in production and business.
The authors also received the Vietnam Golden Cup for Science and Technology Creativity, the Creative Labor Certificate from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Creative Youth Badge from the Central Youth Union.
According to the Organizing Committee, the Award not only recognizes the achievements of scientists but also contributes to promoting innovation in society, encouraging individuals and organizations to boldly invest in research and development.
“We believe that the Award will continue to spread the scientific spirit, arousing the desire for creativity for a Vietnam that is sustainable, self-reliant and deeply integrated,” Deputy Minister Bui The Duy affirmed.
