In the 2025 winter crop, Mai Hoa commune coordinated with the Regional Cucumber Company Limited ( Bac Ninh ) and Nhat Hang General Production and Trading Cooperative (Phuc Trach commune) to deploy a cucumber growing model on an area of 5 hectares.
Mr. Dinh Van Nghia, head of the cooperative in Hamlet 1, Van Giang, said: “Previously, this area mainly grew corn and beans, with low yields. Since applying the cucumber cultivation model using plastic sheeting on trellises, we have clearly seen the benefits: reduced weeds, limited pests and diseases, reduced labor costs, and improved soil moisture. More importantly, the product is guaranteed to be purchased, so farmers are very confident in their production. Currently, farmers have started harvesting some areas early with a selling price of 15,000 VND/kg.”

According to Mr. Vo Dinh Thong - Head of the Economic Department of Mai Hoa commune, taking advantage of land, linking cucumber cultivation with businesses is a direction in line with the locality's policy of developing commodity agriculture in the period 2025 - 2030.
Currently, the commune has established two cooperatives with 11 members, directly involved in production and strictly adhering to the company's technical procedures. With an average yield of 50 tons/ha, the projected output is approximately 250 tons, which will be purchased steadily by the enterprise right in the fields. The commune will continue to expand this linkage chain in this winter season.

Based on initial success, Mai Hoa commune is continuing to survey and expand the production of cucumbers, pumpkins, and sweet corn by more than 45 hectares in collaboration with other businesses, forming a concentrated vegetable growing area and contributing to improving the efficiency of winter crop production. The local government continues to encourage people to boldly participate in linkages, apply science and technology to increase productivity and quality, and move towards sustainable production.
Currently, the winter crop has become the main production season for Duc La Agricultural Cooperative (Duc Quang commune). Mr. Bui Duc Duong - Director of Duc La Agricultural Cooperative, said: “With 50 hectares of winter crop production, the cooperative focuses on crops with high market potential and good demand such as potatoes, carrots, sweet corn, kohlrabi, cabbage… aiming to serve the Lunar New Year market; at the same time, strengthening links with traders to ensure stable outlets, helping farmers feel secure in their production.”

To overcome difficulties after natural disasters, enterprises, cooperatives and cooperative groups in the province are making efforts to overcome difficulties, proactively rebuilding winter crop production, focusing on high-value crops and promoting consumption chain linkages to stabilize output.
Mr. Ho Van Ha, head of the HT Farm melon cooperative (Thach Lac commune), said: “HT Farm's products are all produced according to VietGAP standards, ensuring safety and meeting market requirements. The winter crop is a crucial production season for the cooperative, so we must urgently repair the infrastructure and stabilize production as soon as possible. To date, part of the greenhouse system has been restored, and more than 10,000 cucumber plants are growing well; harvesting will begin in about two weeks. We have also prepared the necessary materials for planting.”
Currently, Hatisa Clean Agriculture Co., Ltd. (Thanh Sen Ward) is also focusing on restoring its production area. Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuong, the company's director, said: "The company is reviewing and searching for sweet potato and carrot raw material sources to supply dried fruit and vegetable products in Thach Khe commune, in order to prepare a stable source of raw materials for processing activities in the future."

Alongside the cultivation of vegetables and fruits, flower-growing areas serving the Lunar New Year in many localities such as Thanh Sen ward, Duc Thinh commune, Toan Luu commune, etc., are also beginning their planting season. Many households are focusing on sowing and caring for their crops with the hope that this year's Tet market will be vibrant, helping to compensate for losses caused by natural disasters.
Mr. Bui Cong Trung (Toan Luu commune) said: "Determining that flowers are a high-value commodity with a good consumption market, we have planted some areas of crystal chrysanthemums early, and the chrysanthemums grown in greenhouses are striving to be completed by the end of October and the beginning of November."
Reportedly, Toan Luu commune currently has over 80 greenhouse models for growing winter vegetables and flowers. These are all key production models of the locality, bringing high economic efficiency per unit area. Mr. Tran Ba Hoanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Toan Luu commune said: "Based on balancing resources, the government has supported each household with 1 million VND for fertilizer; at the same time, we continue to remove difficulties and research appropriate support policies to give people more motivation to stabilize production and ensure supply for the Tet market."

In the context that winter crop production still faces many difficulties in terms of weather, varieties and consumption markets, the agricultural sector is focusing on directing localities to proactively arrange plans, organize production flexibly and adapt effectively.
According to Mr. Phan Van Huan, Head of the Crop Production Department (Ha Tinh Provincial Department of Crop Production and Livestock), the province strives to cover the entire area of winter crop production in household gardens; arranging flexible planting schedules, spreading out planting from September to December according to different crop groups. In addition, localities are focusing on reorganizing production in areas with a tradition of growing vegetables and crops, on a scale of over 400 hectares, prioritizing the introduction of high-economic-value crop varieties; and proactively strengthening product consumption linkages with businesses such as Sao Viet Tourism and Food Joint Stock Company, Son Nguyen Clean Food Store, and Manda Mart…
The industry also aims to expand the production of high-economic-value crops such as chrysanthemums for the 2026 Lunar New Year, cucumbers, carrots, kohlrabi, cauliflower, etc.; while simultaneously promoting training, technology transfer, and the application of safe production processes according to VietGAP standards and organic farming practices to gradually build brands, connect with markets, and produce according to stable orders.
