Those who love their country
Venerable Thich Gia Quang said that, in the compassionate light of Buddhist teachings, filial piety is not only about caring for one's parents, but also about unwavering loyalty to the nation and its people.
"So many sons and daughters have sacrificed their youth, left their beloved homes… to preserve the integrity of the nation. They were also filial children, but they chose a greater love: love for their homeland, for every inch of land, every breath of their country," said Venerable Thich Gia Quang.
Therefore, for the past 11 Vu Lan seasons, the Vu Lan - Filial Piety and Nation program has always followed a journey to pay tribute to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and families of wounded soldiers and martyrs nationwide.
This year, the program runs from June, with many activities expressing gratitude, charity, and social welfare.
At the art program on the evening of August 25th, the organizers presented gifts to 5 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers from Hanoi and Bac Ninh , including a 104-year-old mother from Bac Ninh; along with 11 relatives of wounded soldiers and martyrs.
