Regarding the suspected food poisoning case at Kien Hai Secondary and High School (Kien Hai District, Kien Giang Province), on September 25, Kien Hai District Medical Center said that 25 students had been hospitalized.
Mr. Nguyen Van Can, Deputy Director in charge of Kien Hai District Medical Center, said that as of the morning of September 25, 25 students from Kien Hai Secondary and High School were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning. Of these, 17 students were hospitalized at Kien Hai District Medical Center and 8 students were transferred to provincial hospitals for treatment. Currently, their health condition is stable.
According to the initial report of Kien Hai District Medical Center, Kien Hai Secondary and High School has a contract with the school canteen under the name of Mr. NVC. Breakfast on September 23 had a 4-course menu including sweet and sour chicken, rice with ribs, vermicelli with crab soup, and fish cake bread. At around 10 p.m. on September 23, about 5 students were hospitalized with symptoms of high fever, stomachache, diarrhea, and vomiting. By 6 a.m. on September 25, the number of hospitalized students with the same symptoms increased to 25.
Regarding the incident, the school has directed homeroom teachers to monitor the situation of students and visit and encourage those who are undergoing treatment. Currently, the medical inspection team of Kien Hai district has taken food samples from the school cafeteria for testing.
