On May 15, the Inspectorate of the Department of Health of Dong Nai province coordinated with the Inspectorate of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism and the Press - Publishing Management Department to work with Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited (Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City).
At the meeting, Nestlé Vietnam Company confirmed that it only used information from the Institute of Nutrition for the product "Nestlé Milo Barley Milk Supplement". The company's other products do not use this information. The company also provided a confirmation document from the Institute of Nutrition (January 25, 2024), agreeing with the research content that this product helps improve physical fitness after 3 months of use combined with physical education .
Nestlé Vietnam said it has proactively stopped all advertising activities related to the Institute of Nutrition on all media channels, requested partners to stop posting related content, and plans to change product packaging in September 2025.
The working group requested the company to review the implementation of advertising announcements in accordance with legal regulations, and to pay close attention to signing contracts with advertising partners. The company was also asked to submit a written explanation report on the product self-declaration process before May 22, 2025.
Violation of advertising regulations
Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, the Food Safety Department received feedback about Nestlé Milo products having advertising content related to clinical trial reports of the National Institute of Nutrition.
Decree 15/2018/ND-CP on food advertising stipulates: advertising content must be consistent with the uses and effects of the product as announced in the product declaration; Do not use images, equipment, costumes, names, correspondence of medical units, facilities, doctors, pharmacists, medical staff, thank you letters from patients, articles of doctors, pharmacists, medical staff to advertise food.
Therefore, the Food Safety Department has sent a document to the Dong Nai Department of Health requesting to check, verify information, and handle Nestlé Milo product advertising according to current regulations.
